Orange Pecan Scones

I want to thank everyone who has stopped by here to visit. Your comments warm my heart and I love visiting your blogs--you are all wonderful ladies with such great ideas to share! Here is the recipe for orange pecan scones--I hope you love them as much as I do. Since they are drop scones (and I use my food processor), they are also pretty quick and easy.

Orange Pecan Scones
  • 1/2 c. butter, in pieces
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • grated zest of one orange
  • 1/2 c. orange juice
  • 1 egg, beaten

For glaze:

  • 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tbsp. orange juice
  • 12 pecan halves

Scones: Combine dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, chopped pecans, sugar & zest) in food processor*, and using pulse, cut in butter til it looks like a coarse meal--be careful not to over process. Add orange juice and beaten egg and combine until just mixed. Drop 12 equal lumps of dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack.

* or use a pastry cutter and mix by hand.

Glaze: Combine confectioner's sugar and orange juice, mixing til smooth. Spread a little glaze on each scone and top with a pecan half.

Makes 1 dozen.

These are best eaten right after they are baked!

    Hello Debbie,
I have come by to say "hello" thanks to Mrs. Staggs, and to enjoy your lovely blog! I adore vintage collecting! I also love the excuse of a British Tea Party with jam and scones, so thank you for that recipe. I will give it a try this weekend.
Clarice is a dear friend of mine, whose blog I also love to read.
Thank you for the lovely visit!

    Hi Debbie,
Have just found your lovely blog, I love the sound of your 'Orange Pecan Scones' but could I ask does the 'c' in the list of ingredients mean cup (eg 1/2 c. butter etc). Its just here in the Uk I have not come across this on any recipes!
    Sorry for my ignorance!!!
    Best wishes
    Wendy

  11. Hi Wendy!
Yes, the c. abbreviation is for cup. I must remember to be more specific in future...if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask :)
    Thanks for stopping by,

    Hi Deb
Have at last got round to making these scones! They are lovely, although nothing like the scones in the UK, these are much lighter and extremely yummy!!!
Thank you so much for sharing.
    Love and light
