Some fabrics, some books...

Today I just thought I would share some recent finds. These are not the best of pictures because of the cloudy, rainy weather we have been having here in the northeast, but I guess they'll do. I was recently at Joann Fabrics and decided to check the $3/yard clearance fabrics. I was so happy to find this Robert Kaufmann western print. I love the reds and blues in it and the vintage look of the pattern; now I just need the right project to put it to use.

On a recent trip to the library I found some Martha Stewart magazines and a new copy of her April 06 Everyday Food on the sale cart. This has some recipes like glazed cheese croissants, raspberry napoleons, and a luscious chocolate pudding which I can't wait to try.
Some more fabric I picked up...I'm really fond of polka dots lately and loved the brown with the turquoise.
And I have been wanting to make a skirt for some time. When I came across this bluish green print, also on clearance at Joanns, it really caught my eye. I think it has sort of a vintage look and hopefully will make a decent skirt. It's all cut out and waiting to be sewn. (And sorry, it is very, very wrinkled looking as it got a bit crumpled after I cut it out.)
These are some books I picked up at the semi-annual library book sale. There are usually a lot of older books that, sadly, they are getting rid of.
~Gift From the Sea, Anne Morrow Lindbergh
~Spring Came on Forever, Bess Streeter Aldrich
~Especially Father, Gladys Taber
~The Moonstone, Wilkie Collins
Good reading material for summer vacations.
And, thank you all who have stopped by and left comments. I LOVE hearing from all of you!

  3. Great finds Deb! You've reminded me to check the newsagent for the latest Martha Stewart. We get it about a month late in Australia(not very useful for the Christmas edition)! and of course she's doing the spring editions now and it's autumn here! I don't mind, I still find the magazine very inspirational. Her recipes are very good too.
