sewing 'corners of my home'

Since Christmas, I've spent a lot of time in my workroom organizing as well as sewing. I have had some old wooden brackets in the basement for about a year. Since Mike was home for a week he made a shelf for them, I did some painting, and he hung it up for me over my sewing table. It's the perfect place to put my wire locker baskets, which are full of fabric scraps, works in progress, etc.

I've also had this little chest of drawers in the basement from a yard sale last summer. It had an ugly dark finish....so I painted it green and filled it with all kinds of stuff ~ sewing notions, ribbons, trims, my stamps and inkpads, etc ~ all nicely organized.
I took out the bookcase that was under this window and put the chest of drawers in and the stack of wicker hampers which are full of fabrics, patterns, and yarn.

These Bonne Maman jam jars, (love the blackberry!!), are coming in handy for holding more little stuff...

Now, we'll see how long I can stay organized!

  2. Great job getting organized! You should have a super time crafting in there now! Nothing worse than getting into a craft and having to stop to hunt for something.

What a pretty workroom! Although my space is not quite as large I definitely agree that being organized is a great thing. It's much easier to get to projects. By the way...I love your sewing machine.

  17. I love it! It looks like a wonderful place to be creative. I also love how you put it together using thrifted items. I see the reuse, renew, recycle principles we both use, too. Cheers! LA

  18. I love the combination of that green cubby with the red on the lids of your jars. I use jars to organize too. I like to have things out where I can see them, otherwise I forget both what I have and where I put them.
    Your room is wonderful!
I got a jump on organizing things in my craft room last spring but still have lots more to do. I recently bought a bunch of bobbin boxes to organize my bobbins. It's a start!

  20. It all looks really lovely. I especially like your little green chest (that's my favourite colour at the moment) and the stack of baskets. But it all looks so lovely, organised and cosy. I'd want to be in there all the time if I was you.

  24. I love it when I am freshly organized...although I tend to work on several projects at once and it always ends up "a mess" again...but that's okay! You'll enjoy this nicely decorated space!
