~flea market treasures~

Monday we went to one of my favorite semi-annual flea markets. I'm always looking for fabric and sewing 'stuff', so I was very happy to come home with these treasures ~ a whole baggy full of vintage bias trim in great colors that I don't always find at the stores ~ an old needle packet ~ some old embroidery transfer designs ~ red DMC coton perle (I forsee some embroidery in the near future)...
...and tons of old buttons, even some Victorian ones said the lady who sold them all to me for a $1...
It was a busy, busy holiday weekend here, hope yours was a good one.

  2. All of your goodies are so awesome! I love anything to do with sewing, fabric, buttons, etc. I sew, crochet, cross-stitch and embroider, but I also just like to look at those things. You know, put them someplace where I can simply admire them!

You got some great stuff. Have a wonderful (and creative) weekend.

What lovely finds!! I'm especially enamored of your bias tape find. I always seem to choose fabric that I either cannot find matching or nice contrasting bias tape for.....I'll have to remember to check for older packages when I'm thrifing, garage saling, etc.

    Lovely buttons, by the way!

  19. You have found some of my favorite things! I have such a weakness for old buttons and vintage sewing things. Just looking at them makes me feel happier for some reason. Old homemaking sorts of things of all kinds do that for me.
    Take care Deb!

My 6yr old daughter is wanting to start a collection of buttons so she would have thought she'd hit the jackpot with that one. I keep telling her to be patient and we'll find a bunch for not very much - still waiting...

  27. A wonderful and inspirational post: doing something beautiful and creative and feeding the spirit too. Would like to know how you find Francis de Sales. He has a place on my bookshelf. BTW, I am not the craftiest person in the world and I fear I am going to sound awfully dumb. I have been into the website re the transfers. Beautiful - but what do I have to do to copy them on to the fabric?
