the weekend

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Our heat wave has passed, and we are having cooler temps in the 70's. This little nest and blue speckled egg were found on the ground after some recent high winds...

The weather was perfect this weekend for getting out into the gardens and doing some weeding and watering ~ we are hoping for some much needed rain soon!

I also got some lavender cut...

And, the henhouse was cleaned, feed was bought, sweet cherries were picked, and I almost finished sewing a pair of brown linen capri pants ~ a good weekend in all!

    I want to live with you! That's my kind of weekend! When you have a minute, could you email me about your cherry trees. Are they dwarf variety, do you spray them? I'm thinking about getting two this fall.

  3. What a sweet nest. It's amazing it survived in such good condition. I love your lavender. A friend just sent me some photos of lavender crafts she and her friends made--sachets, ribbon woven wands and a lavender fan. Gotta get me some!

  4. Ah- must be in the wind...I also found several nests over the weekend...one is occupied; while the other was empty- I will post pics soon too. The second one is very interesting, the mother bird actually made the nest out of Bella's hair~ as in our new blonde lab. Oh- the wonders of nature! Your pictures are wonderful.

  6. Thanks for dropping by Pieces of the Puzzle :) I love this little nest; I collect them but we don't really have them here in Juneau. Don't know where they nest.... Eagle's nests and I found one really big nest made of twigs once, I think it belonged to a Blue Jay. But I love traveling south and seeing all the nests in the bare-leaved trees. Love your garden picture. Cozy, comfy. Nancy

  8. Isn't it pleasant to do yardwork when the temps are in the 70's? We're sweltering hot here -- 90's.
    Pretty pics.

  12. What delightful things you have listed as being finsihed in a day! The nest is beautiful. I found a tiny little speckeled egg on the ground recently. I'll be posting it on my blog soon. I love the old chair you have the lavender sitting on and I can almost smell the wonderful fragrance of your gatherings! Blessings!

  13. Beautiful photos Deb. We have a Robin nesting in the arbour above our garden swing - she seems to be quite content considering it's an area where our family sits and where my husband barbeques :-}
    Your lavender is amazing! and your little vignette on the wooden chair is really lovely.

  16. The little nest and eggs are so pretty.

    Also, if you don't mind, would you tell me exactly what kind of lavender you grow? I've tried a couple and none of mine have the beautiful blooms like you have. I live south of Atlanta, so it is VERY hot here. Yours is just beautiful!

    Thanks!

    P.S. I just read the comments and someone else asked my same question. Sorry! I would love to know the variety, though.
