ahhh, sunshine!

Thank you to who ever sent the sunshine which we have enjoyed for four straight days now! Soaking up all this Vitamin D has been great for 'recharging the batteries'.
Here's some pictures from one of my walks down the lanes and through the woods...

And, mine were not the only tracks through the snow today; the birds and animals have been out in full force as well, evidenced by all the footprints I saw circling in and out of the woods, across the ditch, and into the hayfield. The deer and rabbit tracks were easy to identify, but for the rest I have pulled out A Guide to Nature in Winter by Donald Stokes...
...which covers everything from winter weeds to snow crystals to bird nests and more. The pen and ink drawings are great...
I think I'll spend some time looking them over tonight. Have a great evening.

  3. I really loved the picture of the horses and the snow. I cannot wait to move back to snow country. Is there an e-mail address where I can write you and ask you questions about the planner/organizer you made? I want to make something like it. Thanks.

  10. Beautiful! Our feathered and furry friends have been around here quite a bit lately as well. We have bird and rabbit tracks coming right up to our back door this time. I can't believe how close they've come... Sometimes I wonder if they watch for us just like we watch for them :)

  14. Thank you for the Vitamin D link. I realised that I needed to double my intake.
I left you a comment on your previous post...it got lost. It was an encouragement for cloudy/rainy days.
Glad that your sun is shining again. Lovely snow pictures. The views are post card like. ^__^

  19. What absolutely gorgeous photos. I love seeing the sunshine on your snow. Here in the sunny south I was sitting on my porch this afternoon chatting with my neighbor. We were very warm until a front started rolling through - the wind kicked up and now the temps are dropping. It's supposed to rain and be in the 30's for a few days.

I'm so happy that you got your much needed sun. I hope there is more for you in the days to come.

  20. How lucky you are to have snow and the pictures are gorgeous ! We have had no snow as yet here in England but it has been bright, dry and cold for the last few days.It is truly wonderful to hang the laundry outside to dry, and see all the snowdrops which are out already and the daffodils etc all shooting above the ground. The birds are starting to sing (the robin sings all winter) but no other bird does. I love the winter if it is snowy, frosty or sunny and cold but I find dark rainy days quite depressing.

  22. Aaaw, finally!! I am so happy for you that you finally can enjoy a few days with sun! Nothing is better for the mood and your eyes, with a few glimpse of sunshine. No wonder that the snow is filled with footprints from all the cute little creatures that surround your house and garden. Beautiful pictures Deb!! Love your horses :)

Myself is sitting here with a cup of tea, looking out and see nothing else than a stormy wind that`s doing nothing good with the plants. The poor cats are running around trying to get away from the wind. Julie is luckily inside, curled up in her favourite chair.

So what are you working on these days? I am making a few embroideries. And this weekend we are going to paint a cabinet.

Hope you are still enjoying sunny days!
    Hug from Aina

  23. Your lovely nature photos reminded me of the book I'm currently reading--Gladys Taber's Stillmeadow Sampler. She was an author in the 1940's and 50's, who wrote about nature, homemaking, her dogs. Check your library for any of her books. They just might help you get through this long winter. She's like comfort food for your soul!

  25. Diane, it's funny you should mention Gladys Taber. I read her books several years ago and was thinking recently that I would like to reread them!
I agree with you, they are wonderful.
