waiting for the sun

Experiencing a bit of the 'winter blues' or, more accurately I think, the winter grays.

...finding it very hard to get motivated, though there is plenty to do:

~sewing for the shop

~stripping wallpaper/painting entry

~P.I.F. gifts to complete

...drinking some tea and eating an orange scone instead..

...hoping for some sunshine and inspiration, soon!

Thank you, Jaime, for asking, and thanks to all for the nicest comments!

  1. It looks cozy - if I lived close by, I'd forget I had housekeeping to do and a job to go to, and I'd come knit with you!

I'm having the same problem today. Maybe because it's 13 below here! Brrrrr. To cheer myself up, I finally made the no-knead dutch oven bread. It turned out so pretty that I took a picture and posted it on my blog! YUM! Thanks for sharing the link.

I've been trying to improve my outlook on January this year by thinking of it as being a time that I get to be warm & cozy inside our house. It seems to have helped! I'm glad that you posted--I always love to see what you are up to!

  14. You can come visit me in the sunny South! We have had a lot of sun and very little winter. Although we did enjoy our little snow days last week.

The view outside your window is beautiful. I hope you enjoy your afternoon tea and knitting. Stay warm!

  15. Deb,
So glad to see you are back to the blogosphere! I can certainly understand the winter blahs. I'm ready for a vacation to the sunny South! Oh, but that's not for a few more weeks :) For now I will sip my steaming hot coffee and watch the beautiful red cardinals have their supper outside my snowy window...
    Kindly,
    Jaime

  16. I'm glad to see that you're by the window. It helps to get as much light as we can, this time of year. Because of SAD, I have one of those powerful full spectrum lights to help me through this time of year, and it does make a big difference. We just had a week of sunshine though, and it made me feel so much better, still. I hope your days will be brighter soon.

I think we all go through these periods, especially during winter, we have lots of gray days here in France at this time of year. Courage Springtime cometh!!!!!
Don't eat too many orange scones however delicious there surely are, think of sunny days to come and lightweight frocks!

I've had the winter blues this year, and I finally went out and got a light box. I have been using it 30 minutes every morning, and by day two, I was feeling better. It hangs right up by my computer. It has been such a simple change, that I think anyone that gets down with the seasons, or gray days ought to try one. I too love your blog, it seems a perfect blend of what I like. Thanks for taking the time to do it.

I have missed reading your blog!! Selfishly I am hoping for a short winter for you. I live in Alaska so I wish the same for myself every year. I feel like I get the Winter "Whites" from the six months of snow. I crave green and blue every winter.
    Glad to see you back!

I love reading your posts. You sound so peaceful. I love the winter, and find that I get more creative in the cold, and much, much less in the summer heat. And it has been cold where I am, too (4degrees yesterday!). So enjoy your tea, cover up in your cozy, and enjoy one of those books. I'll be creative today, and you can be creative in the summer time!

  29. I understand your feelings. I went through a little slump myself and am feeling better now. Of course a little vacation to somewhere warm didn't hurt either, LOL.

What a beautiful spot for a little tea and a scone.

    Hugs - karen

  31. Ah, yes... Have been experiencing this too along with some things I need to procrastinate a little longer about. Have been saying, hold tight just a little longer, just a little longer!

You sunny snow photos in the next post are so beautiful!

Wishing you lingering sunshine both inside and out.
