French~lesson~book planner update...

Remember the planner I made from an old French lesson book...

There were some of you who asked to know, down the road, how it was working out and holding up. So far, so good ~ I love it and it does everything that I need it to do, and the sewn-together-page pockets are quite handy.

I did have to make a minor modification to the cover after one of the binder rings ripped out one of the punched holes. I picked up a metal eyelet kit at the fabric store and reinforced all the holes with eyelets. It was very easy to do and completely solved that problem...

If I were to make another, I would try to use a thicker book and leave the whole spine intact--like Farmgirl Cyn's. If you would like some inspiration, check out the amazing altered book that she made!

  1. Thank you for the link. Yes, her book is lovely, as yours is. I have to as though, where does one find a vintage French book such as the one you used for your journal? It looks so nice!

  5. I have been waiting to find just the right old book to make this project and found one over the weekend during our annual Gabby Days city wide garage sales. It is an old journal from 1913 and is taller than it is wide. It will be perfect. The only sadness is that I will need to remove the pages inside and the journal was used to record an old lady's butter and eggs sales.

Thanks again for your inspiration. Just coming to your blog makes me want to create something!

  6. Deb...Just checked Holy Experience's blog and she linked to yours and your homemade book, which led me back to yours and the update! I still LOVE my book, and use it as a prayer journal. I think I will make another for a "to-do" book. Such fun!
