some weekend treasures

Flea markets can be a great place to find 'new' linens. Some of my older dish towels were getting quite ratty looking, so when we headed to one of my favorite outdoor flea markets this past weekend, I was hoping to find some replacements. It wasn't until the last row that I spotted any ~ boxes and plastic totes of vintage tablecloths, pillow cases, sheets, dishtowels, napkins, and aprons. All were beautifully pressed and folded...

The top two on the pile are linen dishtowels [most of the other towels there were a bit fancier than what I needed] and underneath are several sets of napkins. The price...50 cents for each set of napkins, can you believe that?...

I also found a little enamelware container for my block of soap by the kitchen sink...

Hope your weekend was fun!

I have my mother's and both grandmother's stuff stored here. I found so many linen dishtowels - I am in heaven!

Also, lace tableclothes as window treatments.

  14. Great finds! I have so enjoyed following your blog and seeing your pictures. I tried making rose hip jelly for the first time this weekend and as I was working on it I was thinking about how you post pictures of your ingredients and set-up as well as finished product when you feature recipes, and how I always like to see them. And as I look at different areas of my home now, in the back of my mind I am picturing each area as if I were looking at the pictures in your blog. You have been great inspiration. Thanks!

Would you mind telling us all about the countertops pictured beneath your enamelware container? I love them. They look as if they might be wooden, but I know a previous post showed your husband's handiwork with concrete countertops. Thanks for your help! Lovely, lovely blog- so comforting, unhurried and calm.

  19. Those are great!

I love antique handkerchiefs. A few friends think it's a little gross, but I wash them well. And they are so pretty.
