until we meet again

Life is eternal;
and love is immortal;
and death is only a horizon;
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
~R.W.Raymond

A good man, who loved his family, his friends, his faith ~my Dad~ passed from this life to the next on December 9, 2008...our lives will never be the same without him.

They are not dead who live

In hearts they leave behind.

    Dear ((Deb)) sending a gentle, loving hug. I too, am so sorry for your loss of your precious dad. How beautiful that you shared such a loving relationship, though how painful the loss and his physical absence from your lives surely is, and will be, for the priceless gift of it having been so. What an inconceivably sweet reunion will be yours--one fine day. Of that you can be sure, and look forward to with all your heart. Thinking of you and praying for you, and yours.

    Deb - I'm so sorry. I lost my Dad at Christmas time too and I know what a surreal time this must be for you.
    When my Dad passed, somone sent me this poem and although bittersweet, it did help me. I hope that it will help you too.

    Death is nothing at all

    I have only slipped away into the next room

    I am I and you are you

    Whatever we were to each other

    That we are still

    Call me by my old familiar name

    Speak to me in the easy way you always used

    Put no difference into your tone

    Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow

    Laugh as we always laughed

    At the little jokes we always enjoyed together

    Play, smile, think of me, pray for me

    Let my name be ever the household word that it always was

    Let it be spoken without effort

    Without the ghost of a shadow in it

    Life means all that it ever meant

    It is the same as it ever was

    There is absolute unbroken continuity

    What is death but a negligible accident?

    Why should I be out of mind

    Because I am out of sight?

    I am waiting for you for an interval

    Somewhere very near

    Just around the corner

    All is well.

    Nothing is past; nothing is lost

    One brief moment and all will be as it was before

    How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

    I just picked up the "Artblogger" magazine and was reading your feature article {congrat}. I was so excited to see you are in Lockport, NY {I'm in East Amherst}, I couldn't wait to go to your blog spot and check it out.
    Well, bittersweet, I only read your last post and nothing further yet, will another time.

    My thoughts and prayers are with you. I lost my Dad 6 years ago and my Mom 2 years ago. I believe God works to comfort us by bringing others to us, Blessed be God...the god of all comfort. II Corinthians 1:3 My parents owned a greenhouse for 45 years, when my Mom passed someone sent me this poem, author unknown, I hope you find some comfort in it.

    The Rose Still Blooms

    A rose once grew where all could see, sheltered beside a garden wall, And, as the days passed swiftly by, it spread its branches, straight and tall.

    One day, a beam of light shone through a crevice that had opened wide-The rose bent gently toward its warmth then passed beyond to the other side.

    Now, you who deeply feel its loss, be comforted-the rose blooms there, its beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care.

    His peace to you...
    Michelle
