new flooring...

Since the living room & dining room were emptied out for the ceiling job, we decided it was the perfect time to repaint the walls--same color, but now all clean & fresh looking. Then I/we decided, well, it would be a good time to remove the old wall-to-wall carpeting since we'd been wanting wood flooring for some time. So, very-talented-and-handy-husband ripped out lots of carpet, padding, and staples and started laying plank flooring which I am painting a creamy white...
We're getting there, slowly but surely, somehow fitting it in between all the mowing, planting of the garden, weeding, chicken-tending, etc.

The self-imposed deadline is July 4th ~ I think it's optimistic but we'll see...

  6. Is it tongue and groove flooring?

How are you going to protect it from scratches or are you going for the worn look? I am curious as we have a huge room 20x30 (bedroom) that has yucky carpet. Hubby wants new carpet and I want hardwood floors on a beer budget!:(

I have thought of just using 1x6 and 1x8 and 1x12 in number 2 pine and varying the widths across the floor. (it's plywood below the carpet now)

Let me know what you did....thanks!

  11. Absolutely Beauitful!!! One question, what kind of paint did you use to avoid lots of scratches and chips, and what do you use to clean it. One more question, what kind of planks did he use? Thanks, and have a wonderful day.

  16. That floor is gorgeous. I can't afford hardwood for all of my house right now, but I love it and need it desperately. I, too, am wondering what kind of planks you used and what kind of paint you chose.
