spring cleaning house tour ~ master bedroom

I may not have gotten into every nook & cranny, but I think I came close.
When I took the curtains down I saw how faded they are in spots--maybe I'll make new ones, someday.

To answer some questions, I use a mild soap and hot water for the walls and ceilings. If the ceiling is tiny, like the bathroom, I do wash it from a stepstool by hand. A larger ceiling I would definitely use a clean sponge mop. Many of our ceilings are textured, so washing them is out. And, Mrs Meyers soap can be found here online or there are also some stores.

Time for a rest...I'll be back soon with the bathroom pictures.

  1. Oh how I love that resting couch in your bedroom. I do not know what they call them but my grandmother had one that I slept on when I went to visit. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had a nice house with less junk. Hubby keeps it full.

  2. Oh! Is that what a clean bedroom looks like? I've forgotten! Yours looks so comfy and homey. Lovely old fashioned but not musty feeling (and I don't think that's because of the spring cleaning.) I think that I'll get my bum off this couch and do something.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

    Love, Katy Noelle

  5. FYI for your readers, Deb--I have been able to find a (limited) selection of Mrs. Meyer's products at Cost Plus World Market, Babies'R'Us, and my local True Value.

    Loved the white-vinegar-and-orange-peels tip!

  12. Oh...so fresh...i think i can smell the crispness here..or at least feel it anyhow...i do have some home help, but i so wish when i read this that i had the time to 'autumn clean' my own home...i love 'home loving' and miss it. Perhaps over Easter i may treat myself to hibernating indoors a little to do just so!! With the teenager working and a couple of days off myself i should be able to manage some home love...your room is beautiful :)

  14. beautiful room and beautiful house... To give a very good smell when your cleaning, you can infuse thyme or lavender and use this water on your wall or ceiling , every where and the smell will be there for a time. It is so good!

  24. Everything looks fresh and beautiful at your house. Spring cleaning is underway at my house, too. In terms of the house, only windows and carpets are still WIPs but will be done very soon. My car has even been "spring cleaned" and this week I'm spending a few hours each morning to spring clean my yard. Then all will be well in my little world.
