on this Good Friday...

This week has been filled with much goodness:
  1. the garter yoke cardi is finished, buttons and all, and I should have my notes ready for you next week
  2. I've been baking the Cuban bread recipe {forgot how much I love this recipe} from The Complete Tightwad Gazette, only I've adapted it by decreasing the amount of yeast used to 1 teaspoon and am letting the dough sit 12 - 18 hours as with the NY Times dutch oven bread.  Then I bake the loaves just as you would the Cuban bread.  It also makes great raisin bread--just add lots of golden raisins and some cinnamon--delicious!
  3. Some apples, found on the reduced cart at the grocery this week, work perfectly in the roasted vanilla applesauce recipe from Chapter 11 of Clarice's book Wren Bay--I could eat this applesauce everyday, and it is heavenly served warm over vanilla bean ice cream.
  4. Most importantly, I've been looking forward to and preparing for Easter.  My hope is that you have a blessed and joyful weekend,
~Deb
