christmas 'corners'

My Christmas decorating in the dining room is very simple ~ not sure if that's by choice or due to laziness, but probably a combination of both :)
Because of all the white in this room, I like to use some silver and sparkle here. The tea set was brought out and actually polished, as well as some garage sale finds like the candle holders, pedestal dish, and ice bucket. My mom made the beautiful and sparkly lighted Christmas tree, which is made of clear beads and safety pins with a strand of lights inside...
The green ball ornaments found a home in the pedestal dish and a creamy pointsettia was placed in the ice bucket...
Stephanie's collection of snowbabies are on the dresser and on the wall shelf. I hung a bunch of the glittery paper stars I made on the cabinets as well as in front of the french doors...
Some sparkly silvery garland is draped over the valance, and the soft trees sit on top of the corner cabinet...

The two decorated trees were already pictured here.
Over on the piano, a peek at some of my Santa collection...

I'm headed off now to do some cleaning, make some spaghetti sauce, and wrap gifts. The heating element for the oven is ordered, but won't arrive til 12/26 so there won't be much baking going on!

Have a great day!

Sometimes less is more, and for your home it works wonderfully! I love the paper stars. They're super cute. And your silver collection is great. I just rescued some silver my mother was getting rid of- just some trays. I'd love a tea set like you have. Looks fabulous!

Since your oven is broken, you could always make some no-bake cookies or a no-bake cake. Happy holidays!

  4. Everything looks beautiful. It always does at your house. I like the simplicity of it all. That tree that your mom made is pretty. I've never seen one like that before.
I hope you hid enough cookies to see you through the holidays.
    Merry Christmas!

  5. I don't know what it is about Christmas but I got out a lot of my silver and spent a couple hours polishing it yesterday.

Yours is so lovely! I have been fortunate to find a lot at thrift stores and garage sales because people do not want to polish it.

I just "discovered" your blog recently. I've now put it on my Bloglines to return often.

  15. I thoroughly enjoy your blog, your creativity and your photos!

The green-and-white theme in your dining room for Christmas sparked this idea for using a gumball tree for January decorating. www.pennysanford.typepad.com

One of these newer versions of a gumball tree would be intriguing in your lovely silver pedestal bowl. I too am a nut for sterling!

We live on a farm also....but in a different state.

Looking forward to reading your blog in 2007 and all the new sewing projects you are sure to create!

    Fondly,
    Penny
