spring at last?

The robins are back and I've even heard some Canadian geese fly overhead...sure signs of spring. There is still some snow on the ground, but as you can see by the barn, the rhubarb is just starting to come up. Even Bailey is venturing out more...

Hopefully we won't see any more 14 degree F temps (which we had last night), and Sparky will be able to shed his blanket for good...

It's the official start of 'mud season' and muck boots will be needed when venturing anywhere on the property. I'm so tired of the snow by now that I don't even mind. And look at that blue sky ~ it's been too long since we've had any of those.

There is no sign of any tulips emerging yet, but they should be up soon. In the meantime I've planted three pots of them, and also an amaryllis, in hopes of having some springtime indoors...

Have a good day!

  2. Oh, I hope Spring comes to you soon. I live in the South and we have such beautiful weather here right now. It was about 75 today and getting warmer by the weekend. I just planted a few things.

When my children were little, they all had rubber boots. They loved them! Our yard, even with the warm weather, is pure Georgia red clay. It will stain everything, permanently. The only solution is boots each time you go outside!

    Happy Spring!

  4. So hope you warm up soon. Down here, things are really getting to look like spring. Your forced bulbs will give you a little bit of what is yet to come!

  5. That's the bluest sky I've ever seen and it's not in Seattle Deb! The sun came out again for awhile here today, but it was really chilly. The camelias, daffodils and flowering trees are all really beautiful. If I'm to have tulips I have to plant them indoors or else the squirrels eat them all.
    Love your photos today.
    A Happy Spring to you!

  8. Looks like spring is about is far along there as it is in my part of the world. My rubarb is just coming up too, though my tulips are just poking out of the ground. We had our first robins yesterday.

We call mud season "spring break-up" around here. We live in a forest industry town and work ends for awhile in the spring because the back roads are too wet and muddy.

Tulips and daffs are just starting to poke out of the ground here. So yours aren't too far behind.

  11. Isn't it nice to see the Robins and hear the Geese again? Your horse is just stunning! How lucky you are to have such a beautiful farm. Is Bailey your barn cat? She is lovely.
