gardening, baking, sewing

I have neglected the garden a bit lately, so yesterday I weeded for about an hour & a half, and picked lettuce, radishes, peas, & cucumbers for a 7-layer salad, which with some crusty bread was our dinner last night. Today I picked a 'ton' of zucchini. The overgrown giants are going to the hens; the rest I grated for freezing and of course had to make a double batch of chocolate zucchini muffins...

I've also been trying to catch up on some sewing for the shop. For all you ladies waiting patiently for clothespin bags, I hope to have a nice selection of them finished sometime before the end of the week.

Here's a sample of some that are almost done...

Well, it's back to the sewing machine for me. Thanks for all your kind wishes left on the last post! Hope you are having a good week.

  11. I've been hearing a lot about those chocolate zucchini muffins. Guess I'll have to try them. I posted a great zucchine recipe last week. You might want to give it a try.

  12. Hi Deb,
Love your clothespin bags and the ironing table is TDF. It makes sense to have a larger ironing table and yours is great.

  13. I think Clarice has a good idea for freezing the muffins. When I grew zuchinni, I used to grate it and then measure out the amount I used for certain baked goods into containers for the freezer. It worked really well.
Your muffins look so good, and those clothespin bags are really wonderful in a nice old fashioned way. I really like them.

  16. Mmm ~ love the muffins. Had to laugh on the "overgrown giant" comment. I do wish we'd had hens to throw ours to in years past.

More of those darling clothespin bags taking shape!

  21. Oh! There are those beautiful zuke muffins again! I've got a bat-sized zuke on my counter just waiting for me to turn it into muffins.

My clothespins only wish they could be in one of your darling bags, but alas, they're abused and must stay on the line year round and turn gray in the weather. I'm simply a lazy homemaker.
