simple pleasures...

* a row of tea tins as planters

* a humble rag rug at the back door

* delicate old fashioned favorite, love-in-a-mist

* a bee who made an entrance just as
I hit the button...

  9. Lovely photos... I love the one of the porch and rag rug... looks so homey and comfortable.  What are the plants that you have in the tea tins?  Succulents?  Makes me wish I was a tea drinker... I'll have to be on the lookout for tins when I am thrifting.

I love the tin idea! Can I ask where you found tea in a tin? Rag rugs are the best for so many reasons, nostalgia being #1. I wonder if that plant (love in a mist - love it!) would grow here ...

  16. I adore the tea tin planters! I am a tea addict, and I never know what to do with the sweet tins. Problem solved. : ) Beautiful, thanks.

  18. and that's another reason I love visiting you!  Beautiful simplicity, and a seemingly slower pace.  Although, I'm sure much busyness goes on behind the posts (as with all of us).  Are you still canning, or has that slowed down a bit for you?  We moved this summer, so no garden goodies to can. :o(

    Deb,
LOVE the tins idea, I have one I have been saving for SOMETHING.  Did you put something in the bottom for drainage or are the plants fine without?

  20. Carla, I didn't do anything special for drainage. I'm careful not to overwater--guess I'll see how it works out...so far, so good.

  21. So far, just freezing {blueberries, blackberries} and some dehydrating. The most amount of canning I do is of tomatoes, which won't be ready for a little while yet.

  23. Sometimes hard to find in my area--I love ordering my tea from englishteastore.com, especially when they offer free shipping.

  24. Thanks Claire--the last month has been quite hot and dry, we could really use some of your rain!

  25. I just found your blog and LOVE it!  And the picture of the laundry room?  If that were mine, it might stay that way for two days or until I used it! LOL.

  26. It's not usually that neat-in fact it's usually a losing battle to control the laundry clutter :-)
