swedish visiting cake...apple version

One morning last week I needed something
to have with tea--preferably quick & simple--and
I remembered a recipe I have tried before,
Swedish Apple Cake, a variation of the
Swedish Visiting Cake.
The name itself, a 'visiting cake'
just conjures up an image of a
cozy gathering of friends enjoying tea or coffee
and cake fresh from the oven.
The ingredient list is short--basic
staples that are sure to be found in most kitchens,
and the recipe comes together in about 10 minutes.
This cake is so good, you would never
guess it is so simple to make--no mixer needed
and just a bowl and some spoons to wash up.
Best of all, it bakes up in a cast-iron skillet...
perfectly rustic.

I found the recipe for the Swedish Apple Cake here,
and found the Swedish Visiting Cake recipe, here.
Enjoy!

I remember when you featured this recipe a long, long time ago - I got it from your page and have made it many, many times - each time it turns out perfectly and it's soooooo delish! :)

  2. Would you believe I didn’t remember already posting this recipe!...although I did have a certain sense of déjà vu as I hit the publish button. Since turning 50, the ‘senior moments’ are becoming more frequent :-)

  9. i kid you not i wanted to make this with peaches over the weekend, but oatmeal choc chip cookies won out.  i hope you don't mind, but i'm still thinking i have to bake this cake and will have to post about it.  imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, right?

  10. I made this a couple of hours ago and it is so delicious!  I don't think I left it long enough though, as the middle wasn't quite done.  I'm sure it was my oven b/c I'm having that issue with a lot of things I bake since moving here.  Anyway, thank you for the recipe.
