raking and reading

Spring has finally arrived (though we cannot rule out some flurries here & there), and the pussy willows are in full bloom. It's so good to hear the birds singing in the morning again and to listen to the spring peepers in the evening. The weekend was warm and sunny, and besides some raking and cleaning out of gardens, we even enjoyed a bike ride.

I moved a couple geraniums and a primrose from under their light in the basement to the enamel top table outside.

And what could be better than sitting outdoors in the sunshine with a couple new magazines!

*Just a note to anyone baking from the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day book about which I posted...
Jenn @ Frugal Upstate left this helpful comment about some errors in the cookbook ~ "I got the same bread book out from the library, but was having problems with the recipe (it baked up gummy in the center.) Well lo & behold, there is an errata page, and the rise time is wrong! Thanks to Angry Chicken for posting about it:http://www.artisanbreadinfive.com/?page_id=73"

Thanks Jenn!!

  1. Isn't it nice to be able to sit outside again! I've been doing the same thing with my new Mary Engelbreit magazine and a cup of tea enjoying the warm weather.

  2. Your pussy willows look lovely.. I have put some of my forsythia in a jug with a few daffodils from the garden. I would love to pick a couple of my hyacinths but I hate to pick them.. They are my most favorite smell besides sweet peas..

  6. What a lovely day you had. Mine was similar as I reveled in the amazing display of roses growing in my yard. So I spent the day making things with them (which I posted on my blog today). It was all so glorious and I'm so glad you had the same sort of time.

    Deb,

I had hoped to send you an email, but there's no way to contact yo directly (probably a very wise thing in this day and age), so that's the reason for this comment that doesn't really fit here, but I wanted to let you know know what an inspiration your blog has been to me. Yours was the very first blog I found and fell in love with blogland. Your blog lives at the top of my favorites list and I read nearly every day. Your blog leaves me speechless (not an easy feat!!) and that's why it's taken until now for me to come out of lurkdom.

Your laundry room redo was the catalyst for my own laundryroom redo. It's not quite finished, it needs a ceiling (unfortunately the work had to stop due to an injury my husband sustained at work), but other than that it's complete and if you'd like to see what you inspired, I'd love to share photos with you. Whenever I go down to my sunny space to do the laundry, I am thankful that you cared enough to share your life with us all here in blogland and your inspiration to make my own little pretty place for a drudge chore.

    Thanks for all the posts!!

    Until next time,
    Larissa

  11. It is wonderful Deb!! I have been sitting outside today myself and I feel so fresh, happy and just so full of energy. I think we all need that extra vitamins the sun can give us.
Do enjoy a good read and have a great weekend!

    Hugs Aina :)
