Sunday at the lake

Sunday was so sunny we just had to get outside. We headed to one of our favorite summer places, which is also pretty great in the winter too...
We bundled up and set off on the hiking trails.

...along Lake Ontario,
...along the creek,

...and through the woods.
These tracks had us puzzled at first until my very observant husband noticed the huge hoof prints that went with them...

They were from a horse drawn sleigh...I could just imagine what fun that must have been!

Hot cocoa was the perfect ending.

  2. Lovely pictures! My Australian brain is trying to wrap itself around the concept of snow beside the ocean. I was expecting sand, at first I thought it was whit sand. Wow.

  11. You are teasing me with images of snow, I haven't seen real snow for close to 30 years. As it is I can't wait for it to start cooling down, I am so over Summer.

  12. Sounds like a wonderful time! I loved the pictures!
My family is so blessed that we have horses and a sleigh at our disposale through the winter! (and a buggy in the nicer months) The kids love getting bundled up in their snow pants, hats, boots, coats and gloves and take a ride on the sleigh! :)

  16. Wouldn't a horse drawn sleigh ride be a perfect way to explore those woods?! Brings to mind Robert Frost:
"Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow."

  17. Lovely pics of the lake. Grew up in East Rochester, my sister used to live on the lake in Ontario and my brother loves in Hilton. I still love the Rochester area and miss Don's Originals, Abbott's custard and the Red Wings. Thanks for sharing the pics.

  21. I found many interesting things, especially in your blog discussions. You can use a small transformation of the blog layout though, but the overall design is very good.
