on my needles and my nightstand

Life has gotten a bit busy of late,
creating all the more need to fit in
a little knitting or reading
here and there.

My current knitting project is my third from
recycled yarn {the other two are here & here}.  The sweater above was found at
the thrift store on their $1 sale day--it was
very soft and a larger size so I knew I would
have plenty of bulky weight yarn to create something new.
Some of you have asked how I know there will be
enough yarn--well it's just an educated/lucky
guess.  I don't measure or weigh the yarn,
but just base my judgement on the size of the
original piece.  So far it has worked out!
I still have one arm to unravel...

...but decided to go ahead and get started...

It's the oatmeal pullover by Jane Richmond,
and on 11 needles it's knitting up very quick.

I was happy to pick this request up from
my library yesterday...

A Perfectly Kept House is the Sign of A Misspent Life: How to live creatively with collections, clutter, work, kids, pets, art, etc... and stop worrying about everything being perfectly in its place.

I love Mary Randolph Carter's books,
and I think this is my favorite so far.

Thank you for all the comments on the window!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

  1. Great idea. I only bought already knitted items once for a friend to use the yearn but once I use up all mine, I will do that for myself too. The yarn you have from your sweater looks great.

The book looks like it would be a great read. I will have to see if I can track it down at the library.

  13. Luckily those temps are behind us and luckily we missed that storm on the east coast. Your knitting skills continue to amaze me. We are headed to Cambodia in a week to meet our new grandson so will miss the final month of winter. Lucky us.
