late winter knitting

With Spring now seeming not so very far off,

as much knitting as possible is

being done at random moments during the day

and while sitting in front of the fire

in the evening.

The Woodsman's Thick Socks, an Elizabeth

Zimmerman pattern, that I was working on

here & here,

are finally finished...

They are thick and warm;

perfect for house socks or as an

extra layer inside my mud boots

when walking the dog or gathering eggs.

I thought some new dishcloths would be nice

since the old ones are quite faded

and ready to move on to floor or

wall scrubbing...

...so I've been working on some dishcloths with simple

stripes...just stockinette with a garter

stitch border...

I've also started a shawl,

the simple yet effective shawl

by Laura Chau.

It's knitting up quickly,

a simple stitch pattern--more stockinette

and garter stitch,

with some fingering weight yarn,

{especially enjoyable with some glazed

blackberry coffee cake}...

Lastly, I decided to recycle an old sweater--one

of the first I ever knit--and make something

I would like better,

...a garter yoke cardigan...

A perfect way to spend the end of winter,

I think.
