Since I missed Rhonda's dishcloth swap, I decided I'd knit a few for myself. My other knitting project has hit a rough spot and will take some time and concentration to figure out~ perfect for when the weather gets colder and there is not so much outdoor work. The dishcloths knit up quickly and are very portable~I've taken them along with me whenever I know there will be time spent sitting.
I used Lion Brand 100% cotton worsted weight in 'natural' and 'poppy red' for the stripe.
And if you are interested in the patterns, Rhonda has a link to Dishcloth Boutique in her sidebar.
I also wanted to mention that Kelli and her husband have created on online magazine called Seasonal Delights ~And if you are interested in the patterns, Rhonda has a link to Dishcloth Boutique in her sidebar.
"Seasonal Delights is a quarterly online magazine for young ladies and their mothers, but can be enjoyed by anyone who loves celebrating the joys of each passing season! " (from There Is No Place Like Home)
~so if you haven't seen it already, you may like to check it out. I just downloaded my copy last night and it is wonderful!!
They're lovely dishbloths, Deb. Well done.
ReplyDeleteYour dishcloths are lovely, Deb! Knitted or crocheted dishcloths are my favourites to use in the kitchen. Thanks for the link for the patterns! ♥
ReplyDeleteI make some of my own dishclothes also, and love how they look the first few times I use them. Then...yuck. That's my incentive to keep on making more!!! Yours are especially sweet, with the red stripe down the center!
ReplyDeleteI want to buy some!! They are so cute. Would you consider putting them in your store?
ReplyDeleteElise
I started knitting a dishcloth, but the pattern I chose was too hard, and I think I need to pick something easier and start again (I am a real beginner). I really like the cloth with the red stripe that you knitted, can't wait until I know how to add different colours. Did you use the Checkerboard Washcloth pattern for that one?
ReplyDeleteLOUISE~the dishcloth with the red stripe is the Purled Ladder Cloth, and the other one is the Baby Fern Stitch, both from the Dishcloth Boutique website.
ReplyDeleteELISE~I'd be happy to put some for sale in my shop; I will try to add them early next week.
Deb
Oh excellent. Thanks for letting me know!
ReplyDeleteDeb ~ I, too, LOVE the dishcloth with the red stripe. It's beautiful! Thank you for posting the pattern name and the link. I will have to try it. I am making a very simple one now called Chinese Waves, and it's turning out very nice. Thank you for the pictures of yours.
ReplyDeleteThose dishcloths look so nice hanging on the drainer, can you bear to use them! I'm off to check out that link.
ReplyDeleteI love making dishcloths--sitting in my chair quietly knitting them at night is such a peaceful and meditative act that helps me relax. I'm going to try some in colors like yours because they look so very French to me--I have a thing about that lately. Thank you for the link.
ReplyDeleteI discovered Seasonal Delights yesterday, too, and wrote about it on my blog today. What a lovely magazine!
I would give my left arm for that farmhouse sink!
ReplyDeleteI've never used knitted or crocheted dishcloths but I see them used all over bloglandia. Your's are so pretty I'd hate to get them dirty! I'd buy some if you put them for sale in your shop.
ReplyDeleteManuela
Oh, those dishcloths are wonderful! I have a couple of yellow ones finished and need to add some more to my supply. The yarn and the needles are ready and waiting for me to start! I think I'll try Baby Fern Stitch - it is so 'me'. Thanks for the inspiration. ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteDeb, your dishclothes are gorgeous. I haven't had time to visit for a while so I've been looking back over your summer harvesting. You have been very busy.
ReplyDeleteYour dishcloths are very pretty, Deb!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your going to use those as dishclothes. Well I understand that's what you made them for, but all that work for dishes !!! There again it will make doing the dishes a more pleasurable task !
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to knit me some dishcloth. I will have to ask her to make me more!! Thank you for sharing with us and love your pictures :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

Your dishcloths are so pretty, Deb! Also, thank you for sharing about our magazine...you are very sweet!
ReplyDeleteKelli
Cute dish cloths. I like how the red striped one compliments and repeats the red in the embroidered curtains.
ReplyDeleteJody
Deb - Your dishcloths are the nicest I've ever seen. I love when beauty and functionality (is that a word???) mesh with the things we use in our homes everyday.
ReplyDeleteKnitting dishcloths can be habit forming!
Loving your dishcloths! Sooo pretty! I've just discovered your blog...so much good stuff to read! C'mon over to my blog sometime, and feel free to leave comments! ♥
ReplyDeleteI never thought of making dishcloths....what a great and fun idea. They look nice..
ReplyDeleteMary
I really like your knitted dishcloths. I also like projects that are portable (like my granny squares), makes it so easy to get a little bit done at spare moments. After I have finished my squares, I just might give one a go.
ReplyDeleteYour dishcloths are wonderful & look so nice over your drainer.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you have ever made any to sell. I do not knit, but I would love to have one or two. I would like to know if you do and if you do, how much would you charge. Could you email me at simplicity@superpa.net Thank you!!
ReplyDeletePeggy
I just love the dish clothes. You have inspired me to try my hand at it since I have some lovely cotton thread to try with.
ReplyDeleteI really like your dish drainer and was wondering where you got it. It looks so unique. I'd love to find one like it if possible! Thanks for sharing, too!

ReplyDeleteHi Deb! First of all, I LOVE your blog! I hope that you can help me. I cannot find the patterns for these dischloths. I have found a couple of links, but they are not working. I have searched everywhere! These dishcloths are just lovely. Could you help me? Could you provide me with a working link? Or, is there any other option? Thank you in advance. Lori
