without books.
Over the years we've collected a few...
some new, but most from tag sales,
flea markets, and library sales.
This week I was thrilled to find
I know what I'll be doing this weekend...

I am in the middle of "The Help," and it's great! But I love old books best - I have quite a collection of them, just as you do. I love to just look at them, some with velvet or leather binding, and imagine when they were scarce, and therefore treasured. I'm always awed when I think about all the different hands that may have turned the pages of a 100-year-old book. And, unlike Nook or Kindle, you can always read a book without worrying about running out of battery power!

ReplyDeleteLove the bookplates! I've "hauled" books from the South to the Midwest and then to the Pacific Northwest. I couldn't imagine my life without my "library"!
ReplyDeleteRecently I read A Winter Sea by Susannah Kearsley which was very good. My favorite of all time is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett...I've read it every few years...and I just saw today that the mini-series is going to be rebroadcast soon (of course, not as good as the book).

I saw the movie version of The Help, but do want to read the book. Sometimes I think I would like a Nook or Kindle, but I really do love having the book itself in hand.
