the lake
Within 2 weeks time we had about a dozen showings of our house, accepted an offer, and the day after the papers were signed we headed to the lake on a vacation scheduled months before--what perfect timing it turned out to be!
There was a little bit of rain, but otherwise mostly sunny, beautiful days spent walking, biking, reading, and relaxing. I hated to leave knowing it will be a busy couple months ahead--packing, moving, building, as well as keeping up with the garden and the wonderful blueberries, tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and zucchini its producing so far.
It's back to the kitchen now to freeze up several quarts of blueberries I picked yesterday and to bake up some blueberry buckle!

Oh Deb! I realise it must be bittersweet for you but there is some good karma in the air for the house and holiday to work out like that. That lake looks like an entire ocean to me, I'm guessing it must be one of the Great Lakes in the north of the US.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Rose, it's Lake Ontario...on a clear day we can sometimes see Canada...Deb
DeleteYum! Blueberry buckle!
ReplyDeleteYay for a house sale and yay for what's to come!
Oh, I love lakes. I'm so glad you had such a good time!
Thanks Pom Pom!
DeleteI read all the time and rarely comment Deb. I love this beautiful place - both the blog and your home. The new buyers are getting a lovely place. You've created something so special there. I know you will do the same with your new home, but I feel a little sad for the good-by.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, thanks so much for being a faithful reader. I always appreciate your kind comments...Deb
DeleteGorgeous pictures! Congratulations on the sale of your home! I am looking forward to seeing your next adventure...
ReplyDeleteThanks Mimi! I will be sure to post about the 'trials of moving' and the building of our new home...Deb
DeleteHaving sold several homes ourselves, I know that you are very glad for the showing part to be over. You're very blessed to have sold so quickly! Yay! Looking forward to your next adventures! Blessings, Karen
ReplyDeleteVery blessed indeed to sell quickly--I feel like I did nothing but straighten and vacuum for two weeks, I was quite stressed out :) We'll be building so we have two moves ahead of us--ugh!

I am traveling the same journey as you - best of luck.
ReplyDeleteSaying goodbye to our home after 33 years
is one of the hardest things I have ever done
{I thought I was ready - turns out "not so much"}
I truly understand--we raised our two kids here and put so much into this place, so many memories... I just take things one-day-at-a-time and keep moving forward :) Hope all goes very well for you.

Congratulations also! What perfect timing as you mentioned, about your vacation, after all of the upkeep for house showings. Building?? Looking forward to you posting on your next house.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa! I'm sure there will be lots to post about as we begin building--we're working hard right now to get the plans finalized--so many decisions!

The lake looks so beautiful and peaceful. Just the type of place I love to spend vacations at.
ReplyDeleteI hope the building, packing and moving all go as smoothly as is possible.
God bless.
Thank you Jackie!......Deb
DeleteThank you Julie!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were moving! I hope all goes smoothly. Your photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful lake photos! We are headed to our lake later today, but ours looks very different from this one. Love that I can "blog travel" to places I've never been.
ReplyDeleteIt must be bittersweet to be moving. I hope you will blog a lot as you make your new home a homespunliving work of art. You and I have been acquaintances for years now. Teaching full-time, I don't read blogs or write like I used to but I have been reading LMLD regularly, as I am contemplating converting to Catholicism, and Leila is very helpful. When I was there, I saw a reference to your blog and it made me smile. My old friend. :) I hope the move is a wonderful one.
ReplyDelete....as long as you're not moving your blog-house too;-)
