some cookie baking...

It was time to bake something besides strawberry shortcake, so I was happy to find this new recipe book by Martha...

It had to be a recipe without eggs since my hens have really been slacking lately, and it just so happened that the Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies shown on the cover fit the bill.

We had them with our midmorning tea today...they are deliciously moist and chewy. And they are full of flavor...I love the spicy gingerbread and I love the chocolate, but, personally, I don't think I'm a big fan of the two together. Soooo, they are yummy...just not my favorite combination....

There are many more recipes I want to try; and the table of contents makes it easy to choose as there is a picture of each cookie with the page number. I think the next will be either the Lemon Squares or the Iced Oatmeal Applesauce cookies...

    Deb;

    The cookies look real good - but I really like your mug warmer - do you think you could tell me where you got the pattern or is it one of yours? Thank you :o)

  6. Thanks Mari - I found a stitch pattern I liked and used it to make the mug cosy. I will share my pattern as soon as I can make some sense of the notes I wrote as I muddled through it.
    Thanks Teresa, Karla, Suzanne, and Em for stopping by!

  11. I'm with you, Deb. I love molasses/ginger snap cookies and I love chocolate cookies, but I don't like the combination together. I'm about to bake a chocolate cookie today with inspiration from http://mennonitegirlscancook.blogspot.com/ Check out Oma's Glazed Chocolate Cookies. I've got my dough in the frig but first I need to mow Grandpa's yard and THEN bake. Can't wait.

  12. Well, I'll just have to keep checking back for the mug cozy pattern. What a great idea for using up leftover bits of yarn from larger projects.

    I like the button!
    I have a cookie magasine of Martha's that has this recipe but I've never tried it. I think I had the same reservations as you do about the combo.

    Those cookies look very tasty Deb. I may have to look into getting that cook book. Enjoy your rain. Right now it is very hot here, about 93 and no rain in sight for awhile.

  17. The cookies look delicious, but I don't think I would like ginger and chocolate together. Now, remove the ginger and add a big cold glass of milk and they would probably be heavenly :-)

    I agree, chocolate and gingerbread wouldn't be my favorite combo either, though they do look really good.

    BTW...there's an award waiting for you on my blog :)
