My new washer and dryer arrived within days and are already 'broken in'. I especially love the Maytag washer which holds a lot more clothes than my Asko did~hence much less time spent with laundry, which is a great thing!
The wallpaper has all been stripped, and the walls are painted 'cottage white'. This has really brightened up the space and is a nice change (the before). The wall cabinet and shelf have been hung, but I still have a couple more things to hang up.
What I'm most excited about is my 'new' ironing table. If you've seen Cath Kidston's In Print, she tells of her grandmother, who always had an ironing table out in her big old washroom. My room is small, but now that my washer and dryer are stacked I had some extra room. I took this old table, which I used to use for folding laundry, and padded it with some layers of an old wool blanket and then stapled on some rose strewn fabric. I also put some casters on the legs so I can roll the table out if needed.I really love having this large surface to iron on ~ great for ironing tablecloths too! And of course it still works for folding laundry as well. I think that (for awhile anyway) I may not dread this chore quite as much!
The laundry room is lovely!!! It's very bright and cheery. I'd never heard of the idea of an ironing table, but it sounds like a wonderful idea! I love the one you made.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely room! The ironing table is just so sweet.

If my washroom was this pretty, I think I would enjoy spending more time in there. You've done a nice job and I like the "cottage white" color, so refreshing. And I love your washer/dryer!
ReplyDeleteLove the stacked washer and dryer...and the ironing table, of course! It is a laundry area that is very appealing. I have hopes that mine will be so as well when it is completed!
ReplyDeleteThat is a WIP that I can do nothing about! :o)
DH has some more work to do on that one.
The ironing table is such a good idea and looks really nice as well. I think it would be great for ironing sheets.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great laundry room! I love everything about it! Wish I had one!
ReplyDeleteI love it Deb! How funny, just surfing around for laundry room ideas for my new house and you gave me some great ideas:-) I am finally getting front loaders too--yippee! Thanks for the nice comments on my site too:-)

ReplyDeleteGorgeous laundry room! I think your ironing table idea is brilliant and I love your little white cabinet.
ReplyDeleteThis definetly makes the "chore" more fun and pretty. Putting the table on casters is so brilliant, too.
ReplyDeleteCheers! LA
An ironing table how fantastic. Ironing boards are so ugly, but an ironing table, now that's brilliant. It looks so sweet with your cupboard above.
ReplyDeleteAhhh I have to say you have the greatest looking wash space! The ironing table is perfect great idea!!
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful! I love your ironing table...I would love to have one for folding clothes on too!!
ReplyDeleteKelli
Isn't that clever! An ironing TABLE!
ReplyDeleteOne day I will have a pretty laundry room and not just a Mud Room (which is what mine is now! LOL)
Oh, it looks great ! I love your "new" laundry room ! And the table, is just Brilliant ! I think i have to buy this book too, i also have another one of Cath Kidston. She`s just the best. Always suprising and great ideas. I cant forget your table though..:)
ReplyDeleteHave a very nice Saterday evening :)
But how do you reach the controls on the top machine?? You must be 6 feet tall!
ReplyDeleteLove the ironing table and the room! I so wish that I had a real laundry room instead of a space in the unfinished basement.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am so jealous of your new washer and dryer. Green, green, green. They are on my list. Do they come in pink???
ReplyDeleteAnd I read about Cath's gma too. Great idea!
BTW, it's nice to meet a fellow chicken lady! We have seven chickens and just got seven more!
ReplyDeleteNames: Mrs. Peck, Minnie, HoneyPie, Wilma, Francis, Nosy, Clarice and Lucy has gone to her reward in the clutches of a hawk. No names for the new seven yet. Let's see if they make it through a Midwestern spring first!
Happy Sunday!
That all looks so lovely. My mum always ironed on a table and couldn't see the need for an ironing board. Yours looks so good I might have to copy. I love the freshness of Cottage White. You have wonderful taste and a great eye for putting things together. Well done. Oh, and those new appliances look pretty spiffy.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! What is the height of the table with the addition of the casters? Just curious, not like I'm going to copy this idea or anything like that.
ReplyDelete~Mary, the height of the table with the casters is about 31 inches off the floor. I know its lower than my ironing board...I guess I'll see how well it works out the more I use it.

This is wonderful. I hadn't been checking because there weren't any new pics on Flickr. LOL I won't make that mistake again.
ReplyDeleteI love your new washer and dryer and the fresh new look. The table is a genius idea. Love it!
I love your laundry room ~ and your new washer/dryer! In a room like this, I wouldn't even mind doing the laundry.

Lovely laundry room!! I love what you did with the ironing table. What a neat idea!
ReplyDeleteI love your ironing table! Is it difficult to iron shirts on it?
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the ironing table you made! Very creative. I hate dragging out the ironing board every time I want to press one item.
ReplyDeleteoh my! How wonderful is that...you are blessed! Thanks so much for visiting my blog, I love yours, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the ironing table.
Lidy
Love that table!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved to iron - I find it meditative and soothing. I love the smell of the hot cotton, and in times of stress, I will iron into the late night hours. I'm also a chicken lady (if that is what they call us!) Your room is lovely, and I am thinking I need a space like that too. I am coveting that fabulous washing basket.
