After a string of sunny Indian Summer days,
enjoying walks along the canal and through the woods,
washing windows outside,
harvesting what's left in the garden,
and enjoying an evening campfire making popcorn
and drinking hot cocoa,
today's rainy gray weather is a change of pace ~
perfect for a bit of knitting at teatime
and enjoying a pumpkin spice latte cupcake...
These cupcakes are wonderfully moist and good,
and keep perfectly in the fridge for several days...
I gave mine a cream cheese frosting as I didn't
have any heavy cream on hand.
The knitting is a bottom for a drawsting pouch,
several of which I hope to have in the shop
by the end of the week.
~
My first sock complete, I have not gotten too far on the
second. It's been on the back burner of late...
For years I have had a knitting needle case on my
to do list ~ a project that I never ever gotaround to. Meanwhile I had to sift through
a basket of needles to find what I needed ~ and
every time I would think that I really needed to get sewing
something for them.
Then I saw this needle case and knew it was the
perfect one...plain creamy colored
canvas and twill tape and some
number stamps...everything I already had
on hand.
Once I got started it didn't take long to make,
and now all my straight needles are organized.
You can find the tutorial here.

I've never made myself one of these, though I did make a pretty batik one for my sister last year for Christmas. I like the looks of this canvas one...I think it's time for mine =-) Now, I'm going over to check out the muffin recipe...always on the lookout for things to go with my tea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post in all its whiteness. I have a lovely needle wrap, made for me by a clever lady in Australia. I knitted a scarf for her and we did a swap. Those cupcakes would not keep perfectly in MY fridge...for any time at all!!
ReplyDeleteO no, another project to add on to my to-do list... which seems to grow ever longer with each passing day. That's just so lovely. Currently my knitting needles sit in a pitcher. I love the muted colour of yours!
ReplyDeleteAloha Deb,
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful idea! I've made these for my paint brushes, don't know why I didn't think to make for the needles. Thank you so much for sharing.
Your cupcake sounds yummy; love cupcakes. I'll have to give this one a try.
BTW, I wanted to thank you also for sharing your knitted dishcloth patterns. I've made about 4 of them in both styles. They're the only ones I use in the kitchen.
Have a great rest of the week!
Hugs---
Oh that canvasey organization is over-the-top appealing! Do you know whether or not there is good way to store/organize circular needles?
ReplyDeleteLovely and organized = bliss!
ReplyDeleteI know a couple of ladies who would love that case for Christmas. Must get started!
ReplyDeleteI've been using a paintbrush holder from our shop, this looks do-able for me, thanks Deb.
ReplyDeleteLove the needle case. :)
ReplyDeleteI am still trying like heck to finish my first pair of socks. I think I am afraid of actually finishing them, so I keep ripping them out and starting over! What the heck is up with that?!
ReplyDeleteLove that needle case and will be making one over the weekend! Thanks for the link :)
I like the yarn you're using for your sock.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are having a lovely fall. Knitting, baking, one cannot ask for more. Clarice
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks delicious and I love that cushion on the chair in the background. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteDeb what a wonderful little project. I am trying to make something personal for each of my children this year to go along with their Christmas gift. This will be perfect for my daughter who is am amazing little knitter. The tutorial seems very easy to follow as well. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie...I was wondering if you would mind sharing what brand yarn for the crocheted dishcloth. You say 100% mercerized cotton, but I can't find any that says mercerized cotton on it.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much
Gorgeous photos and I adore your knitting needle organizer!
ReplyDeleteThe cupcakes were a big hit here, I think you'll like them :-) Did you get a knitting needle case made for yourself?

Swaps are so much fun-I haven't done one in a long time!

Thanks Lilian! If you're like me, you add things to the to-do list faster than the finished projects get crossed off.

Thank you! I'm glad you're liking the dishcloths-thanks for the visit :-)

I have seen circular needle organizers online, but for now I've been keeping mine in large zipper lock plastic bags-one bag, labeled, for each size.

Thanks Kathleen!

ReplyDelete_____
Thanks Laura!

I agree-hope you are enjoying the same :-)

Thanks Michelle. The needlepoint was a flea market find which I made into a pillow.

It is a great pattern-best wishes with it Elaine, it will make such a nice gift.

I've been using the Red Heart Fashion Crochet Thread-I've found it at Michael's and Joann Fabrics.
