Quite a while ago I posted about this tunic I hoped to make. It is a Japanese pattern, which I was hoping to decipher...
After a lot of metric to inches converting I came up with a pattern and made a couple versions out of an old cotton sheet. This is what I finally ended up with...
It's still not perfect~ not sure if the darts are just right ~ but it's good enough. And thrifty as well~the Tracy Porter fabric was off the clearance rack. Now, to find some linen for a pair of capris to go with it.
I've also finished this skirt ~ casual for summer and super easy. It's Simplicity 7229...
I still have a linen dress to make, a top to finish, a summer sweater I'm knitting, and those pajamas...oh, and a pair of drawstring gauze pants for Steph. Yes...I've bitten off more than I can chew...we'll see how far I get.
Your tunic is adorable! I also love the little skirt. I am hoping to sew a few skirts for myself this summer. You picked beautiful fabric. They both look so cool and summery.
ReplyDeleteHihi, i know what you mean girl! I do the same, make too many plans, start on too many projects, and almost everytime at the same moment :) But, you are getting there, and it all looks so lovely. It is attempting to make a little skirt, now when it is so hot here. Today it was 25 or more. It had to be. And i feel bad weather is coming..i normally get headache, and i shure have it now!
ReplyDeleteWell, i hope that you had a good week, and as i can see it was a very creative one. FUN!!
Enjoy your weekend and see you soon Deb!
The tunic is great, you need to make some more now in different colours, now that you've mastered the pattern - love Julia x
ReplyDeleteCut things! I wish we could *see* you model them too!

Cute Cute clothes. You did such a great job you should make them... if not, Have you tried www.JJill.com?
ReplyDeleteDeb,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tunic -- I love it! You did a nice job -- especially considering the conversions from metric to english that needed to be made. I was browsing thru your shop as well. Really cute things!
How long ago did you start the shop & how long did it take to build up clientele? Pretty quick?
The tunic is wonderful, perfect for summer!!

I think the tunic turned out cute!! I'm amazed at those of you who are tackling the Japanese patterns. I do well deciphering one written in English! Thanks for sharing the Simplicity pattern number for your new skirt. It looks very similar to a skirt Dani showed me in the Boden catalogue that we wanted to try to make on our own. You've a lot of projects ahead of you, but I'm sure you'll have them all done in no time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tunic! Love that fabric...lucky you finding at a great price. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI like this tunic !! I enregistered the pattern 2 months ago... Maybe... when I will have time...
ReplyDeleteThat tunic is so cute and I love that fabric!

Clever clever girl you are, I have no patience with dressmaking, but you have made me feel that perhaps I should have another go. Lovely tunic
ReplyDeleteSandra x.
Love it! It looks so nice and cool, too.
ReplyDeleteOkay, you have made that itch return to get out the sewing machine and start sewing again. Like I don't have anything to do. Loved the tunic and skirt. You done a good job. Can't wait to see the other finished projects. Have a good one.

ReplyDeleteOooh good for your for attempting a japanese pattern. I am forever buying those magazines and promising to translate/convert them, but I never do.
ReplyDeleteThe tunic and skirt are adorable! I seriously considered sewing something for summer ~ I even picked out the fabric and a pattern or two but that's as far as I got. :) Maybe NEXT summer! ♥
