the best cookie recipe I've found in a long time

Is there such a thing as a recipe hoarder??
Is there anyone else out there
who must print out/tear out every
potentially good recipe that comes along?...
As I was going through one of my severely
overstuffed folders of 'recipes to try'
I came across this Peanut Butter-Chocolate Chip
Oatmeal Cookie recipe of Martha's.
At first I was skeptical as I had
tried one of her chocolate chip cookie
recipes years ago to which the whole family
gave a thumbs down.
But this recipe really sounded good,
so after dinner last night I gave the cookies
a try...and they did not disappoint.
My only alteration was to cut the
amount of sugars in half,
and with my oven they were done
in about 12 minutes.
I've eaten way more than is healthy...
You can find the recipe here.

  1. Thanks - have just printed off the recipe. Wish I could just reach in and try one of yours right now!

  2. They look sinfully delicious Deb, will have to try them. I have tried a couple of M's cookies and been disappointed, but if you say this is good I believe ya:-)

  3. I've just printed off this recipe. I was amused to read the comment about using natural peanut butter would mean less sugar. All that needed to be done was cut down the content of the sugar like you have done. Anyway, I'll give it a go.
I have been collecting recipes for years. Can't seem to help myself. :-)

  4. I confess, I'm a recipe hoarder. It's only my husband and I at home these days. I don't even cook all that much and rarely desserts. But, still I continue. I need to purge. ;-) This cookie sounds yummy. I've often thought that I need to do some testing and keep the "perfect" brownie recipe, "perfect" chocolate chip cookie, "perfect" etc. . . .

  5. I am totally a recipe hoarder. Only mine are mostly bookmarked online. I am trying to get better about actually trying them and clearing out the mass of them!

  6. I think I'll try this using almond butter instead of PB--since I'm allergic to the latter. Thanks for letting us know about this.

  7. They look delicious. I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't been successful with Martha recipes. I might have to give these a try.

  8. We have nut alergies, but I'll bet that I could sub in sunbutter. Thanks for the link. Your blog is as beautiful as ever.

  9. Oh I am always looking for a good recipe, thank you xoxo Clarice

  10. Raising hand! I can't resist new recipes. I used to keep a new recipe on the fridge door until i tried it and then the internet came along and well, let's just say no fridge would be big enough.
I too, use caution with Martha and baking. I'll take your word on this one.

  11. Compliments to you and your blog! I think you would give Martha a run for her money. You are just as creative and a bit more down to earth.

  12. Well, I don't have that particular ailment but I'm glad to know friends who do. I'm excited to try these - they look like Popular Mom material!

  13. This recipe looks wonderful! Can't wait to try it! Thank you for sharing it!

Fellow recipe hoarder here, too! And I'm a lover of oatmeal cookies as well, so guess what? This one is coming home with me too! :)

  15. These do sound good! :)

Thank you for taking time to leave a comment--I love reading each and every one! I will try to answer any questions you have in the comment section. Due to the amount of spam, I am sadly no longer able to accept Anonymous comments....Kindly, Deb
