the lake

Within 2 weeks time we had about a dozen showings of our house, accepted an offer, and the day after the papers were signed we headed to the lake on a vacation scheduled months before--what perfect timing it turned out to be!

There was a little bit of rain, but otherwise mostly sunny, beautiful days spent walking, biking, reading, and relaxing.  I hated to leave knowing it will be a busy couple months ahead--packing, moving, building, as well as keeping up with the garden and the wonderful blueberries, tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and zucchini its producing so far.

It's back to the kitchen now to freeze up several quarts of blueberries I picked yesterday and to bake up some blueberry buckle!

  1. Oh Deb! I realise it must be bittersweet for you but there is some good karma in the air for the house and holiday to work out like that. That lake looks like an entire ocean to me, I'm guessing it must be one of the Great Lakes in the north of the US.

  3. I read all the time and rarely comment Deb. I love this beautiful place - both the blog and your home. The new buyers are getting a lovely place. You've created something so special there. I know you will do the same with your new home, but I feel a little sad for the good-by.

    1. Very blessed indeed to sell quickly--I feel like I did nothing but straighten and vacuum for two weeks, I was quite stressed out :) We'll be building so we have two moves ahead of us--ugh!

Saying goodbye to our home after 33 years

    1. I truly understand--we raised our two kids here and put so much into this place, so many memories... I just take things one-day-at-a-time and keep moving forward :) Hope all goes very well for you.

I hope the building, packing and moving all go as smoothly as is possible.

  10. What beautiful lake photos! We are headed to our lake later today, but ours looks very different from this one. Love that I can "blog travel" to places I've never been.

  11. It must be bittersweet to be moving. I hope you will blog a lot as you make your new home a homespunliving work of art. You and I have been acquaintances for years now. Teaching full-time, I don't read blogs or write like I used to but I have been reading LMLD regularly, as I am contemplating converting to Catholicism, and Leila is very helpful. When I was there, I saw a reference to your blog and it made me smile. My old friend. :) I hope the move is a wonderful one.
