The hens are enjoying some scratch outside the henhouse, as a our very pompous rooster, who doesn't yet have a name, looks on. The golden hen is either Thelma or Louise; there are two of them and they are impossible to tell apart. They are almost always together--partners in crime as they run around scratching up the flower beds and eating the tomatoes from the garden. It is hard to believe it is October with sunny days in the 70's!
Since the garden is full of ripe tomatoes, peppers, and onions, I made several batches of salsa--17 pints in all. One batch is so hot I don't know who will be able to eat it, but the rest is medium and came out pretty good. We have already polished off a pint.
