The 'corner' for this week is in my kitchen. This is the area where I have located everything for baking. My mixer stays out, but my other appliances are in the appliance garage on the left. I like having everything hidden, but yet easy to slide out when I need it. I have a little vintage wire rack on the wall which I stick recipe cards in to be filed. My recipe boxes were all picked up at garage sales or flea markets, as well as the mini-sifter. The wooden piece in the back right corner is an old potato masher.
I saw a kitchen in a magazine once that had beautiful old silver ceiling tiles for a backsplash. To get a similar look, I used heavy embossed wallpaper and then painted it with a silver metallic paint by Behr. My aunt did the same with a copper metallic paint, and that looks nice also.
Hello. I just found your blog and am going to set aside a good hour to go through it this afternoon. It's beautiful! Your canisters caught my eye...I have been on the lookout for some just like that! I am going to try a few stores this afternoon. Your baking area is just darling.

Aha, you do have your own bakery of sorts! I too think the wallpaper idea is wonderful...like so many of your other ones, including the wire basket for the recipe cards. I wish you could magically organize my home for me...you are so good at it! I have a similar space with my canisters and mixer on the counter...hmmm, now that I think about it, I have a wire basket that would work for cards too, I need to look for it! Thanks for sharing your great ideas once again!
ReplyDeleteDeb, your "boxes" with suger and tea looks great! My mother has some similar boxes in her kitchen too.
