a simple 'fall' tote

Remember this top?....

Lately, especially, I've been looking to use up some of the fabrics I already have on hand. I had some of this great charcoal-colored wool left, which I knew would be just right for a bag I saw in "Zakka Sewing".

This is my version...

...not exactly the same as in the book ~ I used some heavy cotton webbing I had for a single strap handle. The cream-colored felt was from my scrap bin as well {try not to notice that the crosses are starting to pill a little}.
I saw quite a few projects in Zakka Sewing for which I would love to make time...you can see a gallery of some of them here. *Edited to fix link ~ sorry!

  10. Very cool bag! I've been giving away fabric left and right. I need to sew up some too for self and daughter. I have an entire pattern cabinet full of fabric, not to mention the plastic tubs in the attic!

  13. Love both the top and the tote...the cream and gray are FAB together. You did such an awesome job. I may have to check into getting that book!

I'm always inspired when I come to your site...I'm in the sewing creating mood right now...but alas...cleaning house and de-cluttering to sell is looming larger right now! Hmph...seems I never have enough time to create and be FREE from all the other intrusions!

    Blessings....
