Inside,
flowers are blooming...
Come fall, I bring inside most of my potted geraniums. Some spend the winter in the basement under lights, and some are put near windows upstairs. These two in my sewing room are planted in some olive oil cans.
Flowers are also blooming on two pillows I made for the living room...
I have been holding on to this fabric for over a year, unable to decide what to use it for. I realized that it would make perfect pillow covers--such a cheerful pattern seemed perfect for this gray time of winter.
I only had enough print for the cushion fronts, so I used some white linen remnants for the backs. Whenever I'm at Joann's, I search the remnant bins for discounted linen--it always comes in handy for something.
I made a few more pillows, I'll show you next time...
You have such a gift for bringing warmth and comforting touches into your home. I just loved looking at the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love the geraniums in the olive oil cans...I would have never thought to do that. I may steal that idea next fall when I bring mine in. February is definitely time to brighten up the house isn't it? I need color this time of the year too.

So lovely! Aren't geraniums so delicious? They are my favorites and this year the frost got 'em before I did! I have missed them until you shared yours! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA pop of red is a perfect "pick-me-up" for any room. The pillows look great.
ReplyDeleteI love the geraniums. I keep thinking I want to find some scented geraniums to plant inside. I really like the olive oil cans. Very fun. The linen pillows are very fun and Springy. I didn't think JoAnn's ever had any kind of linen available. I guess I should look more closely. Very lovely!
ReplyDeleteCute pillows and gorgeous flowers :) I agree, this time of year is OLD! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the geraniums in the olive oil cans. How neat! Your flower pillows are just lovely and perfect for this time of year!!
ReplyDeleteIs that Cath Kidston fabric? If so, if so I can understand the hesitation:)
ReplyDeleteI brought my geraniums in for the first time this year, I hope they do OK when I put them back out.
Thanks for sharing a bit of your "sunshine."
I live in SO cali... so the only plants people put under lights are illegal hahahah
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea to bring in the geraniums for the winter. YOu must somehow cut them back because by fall my are usually huge.
ReplyDeleteI love your cheery pillows. I don't think that my Joann's has linen. (I will look)
I always love your posts... the fabric on those pillows couldn't be more perfect. The perfect pop to a snowy day.
ReplyDeleteI do the same with my geraniums - though I never thought about putting them in cans like that. That is really neat.
Oh how warm and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know geraniums would actually bloom in the winter! I like that little red dotted bowl too.
ReplyDeletePretty pillow. I think I have that same fabric - it looks so great on that chair.
Oh...this makes me so ready for spring (: Love the geraniums in the tins!!
ReplyDeleteBlooming flowers always make such an impact on a room. So cheerful.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric on you new pillow covers - beautiful!
I love those pillows! They're beautiful! I am so ready to be done with winter. But this month really has gone by fast.
ReplyDeleteI always plant geramiums outside but I've never thought to bring them in. Something to remember for this fall!
ReplyDeleteI love the pillow's, so bright, just what we need this time of year. Spring "is" on the way. I also really like the little red and white polka dot mug, very cute.
ReplyDeleteSo warm and cheerful! Having the live green inside is breathing fresh air, wonderful. The olive cans are delightful and a great size. Your pillows really pop on the light colored chairs. Looking forward to seeing you next pillows.

ReplyDeleteI brought my geranium in this fall, too. Mine isn't blooming -- maybe it will soon. Like, you, February is my least favorite month. Your beautiful home is so wonderful to look at -- thank you for sharing.
