Waiting...

I took my camera over to our property one evening to get some photos, while Mike was shooting grades and digging another inspection hole.

We have not been able to start on the basement for the house...the inspection holes are still filling up with water at 3 to 4 ft as Mike digs them.  Holes from previous digs have become home to frogs who apparently love to jump in and keep cool and moist.

The subcontractor says go with a crawl space or sell the land...so a crawl space it will be. Still waiting for a date as to when that will happen.

So, for now, we go there to walk the dogs, enjoy the peace and quiet, and dream.

  1. I know it's hard to wait; been there ourselves and with my parents who built a home next door to ours many years back now. It will all be lovely eventually and in the meantime, you took some lovely photographs of your property. : )

  2. Your property looks lovely and I just know that once you start building it will move right along. I agree that waiting is very hard though.

    God bless.

  3. Waiting is so difficult, but I must believe that while we are waiting - He is moving. Your some-day home will be just beautiful in that lovely spot.

    1. Thank you Linda! I think He is teaching me to grow in the virtue of patience :) which I sorely need.

  4. Lovely plot! I love how the light in the trees dabbles! We have a crawl space under our 100 year old farm house. Once I got used to not having a basement, I really rather like it! The house stays cool in the summer from it! :)

    1. Thanks Matty! The majority of homes here have basements, so this is a big adjustment for us space-wise. On the bright side, no basement will force us to pare down and live more simply with less.

  7. We live in TEXAS... basements are almost unheard of. We have a crawls space in our almost 60 year old home. It was moved here and set on pier and beams...and like another reader said... our home stays a little bit cooler in the summer for it.
Your photos of the flowers are beautiful! They look similar to ours. I can imagine all the dreams and plans you have to live there.
I don't have to tell you...
Godliness with contentment is great gain... ;)

    1. Thanks Patricia! I have relatives in the South and none of them have ever had basements--here, it is almost unheard of to not have one. We're looking at it as a good thing, which will force us to pare down and simplify even more.
And thank you for the reminder :) ...this whole move has made me realize that I can/should be able to be content no matter where I am...Deb
