I feel like I have to 'run' to keep up with life lately. Just when I want to slow down and literally smell the roses or take a leisurely walk or sit on the glider and read a good book, there is something demanding attention--like those weeds I can't seem to keep up with lately, the deck needing some stain, or meat birds & hens that need feeding & watering. No matter what though, I try to squeeze in some crafting like this really fun project recently from 'Printing by Hand'...
Our daughter' boyfriend had a birthday, and since he is the nicest guy in the world I thought I'd make him something. Since he has a dachshund puppy I decided to make him a pillow using the 'Gus's Dog Bed' stencil. I have a screen printing kit but am still a bit intimidated by it all, so I just applied the screen printing ink with a stencil brush...
I love your doggy cushion if I am allowed to call them that. Your own material too.
ReplyDeleteWell done Deb! Looks great! I'm sure he'll love it.
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect! (spoken with the authority of a sewing owner of two dachshunds)
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of my mother's aunties who canned and laundered and cleaned without all the conveniences we have, I get this relaxed, slower-paced feeling that they always had when we visited or had family gatherings. How did they manage? (spoken with the authority of a gardening owner of many weeds)
Happy 4th!

Fun project! I love the cushion. I have been tempted by Spoonflower many a time but haven't taken the plunge yet. I am still in blanket mode but I'm almost finished a quilt square of sorts. How goes the stripes?
ReplyDeleteHow adorable Deb! What a fabulous gift.
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th!
Perfect....also coming from a sewing owner of one dachsshund!!!
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you on NO TIME FOR ANYTHING!!! We have a wake to attend this evening and it is just putting me in a "hurry up and go crazy to get everything done so we can actually leave the house mode"..... I guess I shouldn't have opened this ole laptop huh??
So cute! I have a little white chair like that, and now I know what to do with it! Clearly it needs a hand printed pillow :)
ReplyDeleteLove the doggy pillow and can't wait to see knitting and crochet projects. Everytime I log in to buy something, everything is sold out :-(
ReplyDeleteI guess if I was lucky enough to know you I would receive a heads up (hint)
The dachshund pillow is so cute. We have four of them here. That would make great presents for each one of them to have a pillow with their name of it. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteThat is just too cute!!! I need one! What a perfect stencil.
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow and I know what you mean about being better at starting a projcet then finishing one!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try screen printing, keep us updated when you try it out! Looks like a great book too. I linked you to my blog!

So, so cute!! And how lucky you are to have a guy in your daughter's life that you love!!
ReplyDeleteI totally know how you feel about the time thing! I am eagerly awaiting my Indian Game meat hens and have helped our new Isa Browns settle in. Where does time go... happily I can sneak this time to read some blogs!
ReplyDeleteThis post left me all inspired. I have been stencilling little owls onto some fabric this evening... looks like a great book! Thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteLovely printing. There are always weeds and jobs to do hear too!
ReplyDeleteDid he just Love it?
ReplyDeleteHello from Oregon. This is my first comment here, though I have been following your blog for some time. You'll never believe this! I found a similar fabric a little while ago, and upholstered an entire bench with dogs. The funniest part? In real life we have two cats!
