the house is progressing...

Most of the trees have lost their leaves now, but a few like the one above stand out, as the rest of the landscape becomes more colorless. I am trying not to think of those inevitable gray days ahead of us.

Ten weeks into our new house adventure and things are really moving along. We have insulation, the plumbing and electrical are run, and we have a furnace for heat which we will now be needing.  This view is looking through the pantry to the laundry room...

The wall board has all been installed and the taping-sanding-dust has begun. Here is the living room before and after drywall...

This is looking through the kitchen from the living room...

With all this wonderful progress, I am trying to finalize the paint colors. I am usually overwhelmed by the choices out there, but am managing to get it narrowed down.  We will be going with Benjamin Moore, mostly their 'Gentle Whites' and some grays...

While the drywall gets finished up, I will be packing...as we did just over a year ago.  Then, I will be putting on my painter's cap :)

  1. Wow! Things are really moving fast. I'll bet you are excited as the site work ends and the fun part of picking things out begins.

  2. Oh, this is the fun part, Deb. Now you get to make it a home. It's really going to be so "you."

  3. It is exciting!

Deb I wonder if you have ever seen any of the British series "Grand Designs" with Kevin McCloud? I think you'd enjoy them.

  4. How exciting for you! Thank you for sharing.

  5. I'm not sure I've ever posted here but I've followed your blog for years. I just wanted to say that I appreciate your consistency all these years in posting about your actual life, what you find valuable, what is going on - without artiface and with genuine intent. Something has happened to blogging these past few years and I'm glad one of my original favorites is still one of my favorites. It isn't about constant content and constant instructions on how to do x, y, z - blah, yawn, tiresome. Pinterest and $$$ sponsorships have corrupted public journaling.

You are lovely. I think I'd like to know you if I bumped into you in real life and I still feel that way about you after all these years. That is the highest compliment I can give to a blogger these days. I almost never comment on any blog ever but I wanted to thank you. Thank you for sharing a real, kind, lovely life with your readers. It's appreciated.

    1. Jessica, I am so overwhelmed by your comment...thank you! Thank you for taking the time to write this note and let me know your thoughts--I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity. I am honored to have you as a reader and hope you will feel the same about my blog in the years ahead. Sometimes I get a nagging feeling that I need to 'keep up' with some of those other blogs out there--your words are a wonderful reminder to 'just be me'.
Again, my sincerest thanks; I hope you will continue to visit,

  6. How wonderful! I'm really happy for you!

Thank you for taking time to leave a comment--I love reading each and every one! I will try to answer any questions you have in the comment section. Due to the amount of spam, I am sadly no longer able to accept Anonymous comments....Kindly, Deb
