Oh, it is so good to be back here!  It was difficult to leave Instagram, but now that I have, I feel peaceful and content with that decision.

Here we are four days from Christmas and I am no where near to being ready...I hope to decorate our tree tonight, I did manage to get three types of Christmas cookies made (nothing fancy!) as well as some Oreo Cookie Bark, some orange slices were dried, and almost all my Christmas cards are mailed.  Maybe someday I will be one of those organized people who mail theirs out right after Thanksgiving.

I did fit in some knitting for my new granddaughter Aurora ~ the Small and Clever hat and mittens from Pickles.  They actually knit up very quickly and are perfect for this holiday season.  Soon I will post a picture of the sweater I knit for her also.

Just a quick post here as now I must get decorating that tree!

Take care,

Deb

  2. It's good to see you back. Your cookies look wonderful. I remember I got cards out once the weekend after Thanksgiving. I put it on the calendar, bribed the family with homemade hot cocoa and gave everyone a pen. We had an assembly line! Today, while the kids are grown and more time on my hands, I still can't seem to get them all out in time. :-)

  5. SO glad to see you back in this space....i, too, returned to the blog world (although on a different platform, so I've sort of 'lost' all my virtual friends which makes me sad); this covid thing was the right time to do it.
Love all those cookies! I'm finally in the baking 'mood' after doing a socially distanced cookie exchange over the weekend. And I have an old butcher's block that looks very similar to yours. Mine came out of our town's first market square butcher shop. I bet you 'move' yours about as often as I move mine....never!

    1. Steph, it's great to hear from you! I enjoyed the story of your butcher block. My butcher block was found, by my late father-in-law, beside the road. He brought it home and cleaned it up--we inherited it, enjoying it ever since. And you're right, it has a permanent spot in our kitchen.

  6. So lovely to see you and your photos are beautiful. Had one Christmas already since we haven't seen each other for 9 months and now this week I just want to enjoy what the holiday is about; stiching, candles, knitting and then some cooking for Christmas day.

  8. I rarely ever read blogs anymore and am strictly on Instagram (Writeonman) where I love to share my photos and thoughts. My thing prior was FB and I still keep that opened due to family connections across the globe that I can't afford to lose, but other than that, rarely ever post there anymore. But occasionally I'll check out the blog world so I'm happy to see your posting. Love your photos. Merry Christmas!

  13. Thanks Clarice! I didn't make the usual amount of cookies this year either. The painting was a happy find at the thrift store - Apples and Oranges by Cezanne, and I knew it love it for my pantry.
