In January 2008 I made this planner from
and old French lesson book...
...and here it is after 4 years of serious
use and it is still holding up great.
With sections for cleaning plans,
menus, notes, to do lists, etc. and
contacts,
it has made all the difference in helping
me stay more organized. I would be lost without it!
The subject dividers which I made myself
are getting a bit worn,
but the laminated, store-bought ones
are doing better.

This year I used some yellow lined paper
to print out my monthly calendars,
and I like having the lines to
help keep my writing a little neater.
{printableplanners.net has many
calendar templates from which to choose.}

I was feeling a bit anti-housework lately,
but this 'declutter calendar'
has me motivated again...
...just one task a day,
and if I can keep it up,
by the end of year
our house will be more organized
and free of a lot of unnecesary stuff--yes!
And less stuff,
means more time for knitting and
reading while curled up in front of a cozy fire...

Organization is on my list of accomplishments this year for sure. I need lots of motivation too!
ReplyDeleteInspiring...I especially liked the yellow lined paper idea for printing your calendar on!
ReplyDeleteI love your hand-made planner; beautiful! Thanks for the link to the Declutter Calendar, just what I need.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tip on the Declutter calendar. I printed out Jan. and intend to do what it says! I remember when you first posted your planner. Can it really be four years ago? Wow.
ReplyDeleteI think, it would be awfully grand if you made some of these to sell to some of *us*! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Deb, I love this post, it encompasses so many of the goals that I want to achieve for myself this year. I have planned for a long time to make a notebook for myself similar to yours but I hadn't actually sat down and done it - now I feel inspired to get on to it!
ReplyDeleteHi Deb
ReplyDeleteWhat size do you use for your planner? Travel or desktop?
I LOVE this idea! I think I may just have to give this a try. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love this project. I'm wondering if you can explain how you made the holes for the binder rings.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Just joined your Google friends. Having a household binder/notebook, is one of the best organizing tools a gal can have. One that see's you through year after year, is even better, less re-writing. I have just written an article on the importance of a household notebook at my organizing site, http://routinehabit.com/blog. Would love for you to call by some time.
ReplyDeleteI love your planner! I have been on the lookout for a home planner and yours is great! Thanks
ReplyDeleteBeautiful planner, I love it!!
ReplyDeleteQuestion though, how did you punch through the book covers?
Thanks so much for the wonderful idea!
I enjoyed your post, I think I have the same questions as a few others. How did you do the covers and where did you get the rings??
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me! I see a more organized me in the future. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteOooh! What a gorgeous blog! I'm so pleased that I discovered you while I was out adventuring around the crafty blogosphere!!! Your photos are amazing - you're clearly one super-talented lady! I LOVE it here, so I'll definitely be visiting again.
ReplyDeleteUntil next time.....
Carly

ReplyDeleteI have actually thought about doing that--maybe someday I will follow through :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tania!
ReplyDeleteLilian, I use the 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inch size planner.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie!
ReplyDeleteIf I remember right, with a hole punch--but my husband had to do it for me, it's not easy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit Laurie!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer. If I remember right, with a hole punch--but my husband had to do it for me, it's not easy.
ReplyDeleteMissy, I just cut the front and back covers away from the spine of the book. The binder rings were found with the office supplies at Walmart.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit Terrie!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carly!
