"As the Sunflower turns on her god, when he sets,
The same look which she turned when he rose."
Thomas Moore
It was such a busy day here today, I am looking forward to the weekend. Since it rained in the morning I worked inside doing laundry, cleaning out a bathroom drawer, sweeping and washing the kitchen floor. When the sun came out I hung out the wet clothes, then headed out on my bike to pick wild blackberries for some jam. Back home again, I made a chocolate-zucchini cake for a picnic tomorrow and also some zucchini-pineapple-craisin muffins...the dishwasher has problems so I spent lots of time doing up dishes. The jam will have to wait til tomorrow morning...This lone sunflower is blooming in a field of Queen Anne's Lace next to our yard. I like to imagine it is an offspring of one of our garden sunflowers from last Fall, its seed carried and dropped by a little bird...
I love looking out my kitchen window every morning and seeing it cheerfully smiling up at the rising sun.
Deb,
ReplyDeleteyour day sounded busy but delightful.
I was wondering if you can post the recipes for the zuchini-chocolate cake and the muffins. I have a great deal of zuchini that I would like to use up in different recipes.
Thanks for sharing :0)

I love the sunflower. You have had a very busy day. I have sick ones here, so it has been hectic. Lots of cooking, and waiting on others. My husband says this is my calling. I do love it, but I am tired too.
ReplyDeleteLovely piccy...
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in CT, I used to grow sunflowers in the back yard. They were so happy and so was I! I love the photos of that sunflower just standing tall, shining in the sun. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming photo. I particularly like the little bee perched on a petal on the right side.
ReplyDeleteLove the xunflower. Those were my Mom's favorites, so they always make me think of her.
ReplyDeleteI hope your day is a fun, relaxing one.
Oh boy, chocolate zucchini cake!!!! That sounds so yummy. I'm going to ask for the recipes for the cake and those muffins as well! I need things to do with this zucchini!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are beautiful, and I love the garden walk that you've shared in your previous post too.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy my visits here very much Debbie. Thank you.
I'll say it again: You have such a beautiful blog!! Love all your pictures.
ReplyDeleteHello Deb. I happened across your blog some weeks ago via Rhonda's. It is a delightful read.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the photo of "Queen Anne's Lace". Being an Anne of Green Gables fan I've always wondered about it. Being an Aussie, I've never seen it until now.
Cheers.
That sunflower is so beautiful and cheerful. It makes me want to plant some!
ReplyDeleteI second the request for the chocolate zucchini cake recipe. I had some a few years ago and LOVED it, but I've never been able to duplicate it.
The colours in your photos are so cheerful Deb, can't fail to make one feel happy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blogging as always
