a hand knit organic cotton dishcloth
{I will be sharing this new pattern very soon},
and a bottle of Mrs Meyer's Clean Day dish soap
in their choice of lavender or geranium scent.
Just leave a comment,
and, if you like, tell us how you make a not-so-fun chore a bit more enjoyable.
I'll be over at Rhonda's down-to-earth forum today for an interview,
Thank you so much to Rose for inviting me and to Rhonda,
and thank you to all who have come over from the down-to-earth forum.
See you on Friday, 5/7, for the drawing...

OH, I SOOOO want to win.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance! :)
Listening to music always helps those chores go quicker! Or listening to a book on CD. Also, sometimes I will call a friend and chat away while I'm doing laundry or dishes. Next thing I know it's all done and I hardly remember doing it. LOL
ReplyDeleteI like to sing! I pull out all the old show tunes and hymns I can think of and really belt 'em out. Nobody can hear me over the noise of the vacuum cleaner!
ReplyDeleteI second the listening to music! Sometimes the chore seems sweeter when my girls are quietly drawling at the table as I clean up all the dishes and wipe down the counters, I get interrupted with, "Mommy look what I colored." and I just love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity!
Julie A.
Oh, the towels are so pretty!! And I was curious about the geranium-scented soap when you mentioned it awhile ago on a post. I do my best cleaning when the TV is off and everyone else is still in bed! ha!
ReplyDeleteDelightful giveaway....count me in.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am cleaning (which I am just about to start), I crank up the Golden Oldies and rock away! If I really need energy I pop some Zydeco in the player!! Can't sit still with that stuff going!
I love to open my kitchen windows and feel the breeze and listen to the birds sing while I do my dishes. That is, if I can hear them over all the kids. :) :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Please enter me in your drawing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway! I guess the only thing I do to make things more enjoyable when I work is to turn on the radio/music and a timer. This makes things go very fast :-)
ReplyDeleteoh what a nice giveaway! we just purchased our first home, and for the first time in a long time, i don't have a dishwasher - these would make the chore much more cheery!
ReplyDeleteI love washing dishes by hand, even though I have a dishwasher. I love washing them with the windows open for fresh air and the singing birds. Sometimes a scented candle is nice too. What a wonderful giveaway! Thank you for doing this!
ReplyDeleteMusic! I turn on some music and away I go!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I have favorite music I listen to...but sometimes just the act of bringing everything back into order is enough. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful give a way. Thank you so much for sharing your treasures with us. :o)
ReplyDeleteI too am having a give a way and would love to have you drop by each Monday of this month. :o)
Have a nice day.
Sincerely ~ Tricia
Oooh what a lovely giveaway. We have a dishwasher but I often have to wash certain items by hand. Just looking out of our sun room windows and seeing the sun shining through makes the task go by quicker.
ReplyDeleteI do my chores with my 3 year old daughter. It certainly takes a little longer but it is much more fun. I would love to win these wonderful products.
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway! Having someone to help you with chores makes it more enjoyable, you can chat, laugh, and get more done! Going to go check out your interviews now. Thanks for the compliments on the potholders!
ReplyDeleteOOOH, I would love to win the rose bordered towels and one of your dishcloths. Love them! I am new to Mrs. Meyers cleaning products and would love that as well. Off to see your interview.
ReplyDeleteWhen I've got the dreaded task of deep cleaning my bedroom, I put on the soundtrack to Mamma Mia!. And when I'm folding more than two loads of laundry, I'll time it to a PBS show that I usually miss, and I can watch.
ReplyDeletePlease include me in the drawing. I love the towels and dishcloth. I guess music is what makes my chores go faster.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. Thanks for offering these goodies for someone.
ReplyDeleteTo make chores go faster, I listen to music and sometimes offer myself a "reward" of a trip to the thrift store which is extremely relaxing and a fun thing to do.
Best wishes,
Diane
You're right! for example, the bucket I use to wash the floor, etc., is a bright color and of course, some of the towels in my kitchen are of cotton damask, cuz I love that kind of patterning. So I would love to win this offering....the rose pattern is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love the towels! My kitchen sink is in front of a window that overlooks our pond. This time of year I get to watch all kinds of wildlife, from fish jumping to ducks.
ReplyDeleteDeb,
ReplyDeleteI just know how awful it would be not to "get" to do my chores. I have a sampler on the wall that my Mother made for me years ago It reads "Hands to Work Hearts to God" and I think of that saying often especially when it's something I don't want to do Ha !
P.S Your handiwork is Beautiful !
I have not yet mastered making the not so fun chores fun. I hope that you share any good tips that you get for making them fun. thanks!
ReplyDeleteA Quiet house always helps me to focus better on the task at hand. And some nice smelling cleaning products. I love the Mrs. Meyer's!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway! Yippeee!!!
Beautiful flour sack towels ! Music or audiobooks make the chores go faster.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love a chance to win! No dishwasher here, so this would be nice!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of you! Your linens are beautiful. I'd love a chance to win :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway fun!
My husband does most of the dishes, bless his heart! He would love this!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSomeone else mentioned this, but I too like to SING or hum as I work on a not-so-fun task. It makes the task all that much more tolerable and pleasant for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance at a lovely giveaway. ♥
put on the radio, sing and dance help to do so much things we don't like to do.
ReplyDeletethank you
When my daughter was in Arts Camp she made me a ceramic dish soup pump bottle which I treasure to this day. It makes me smile every time I'm at the kitchen sink.
ReplyDeletei do the chores with my children, but not with all three together! i pick one of them and while we do what we have to do we talk about school, work or something in his or her mind.
ReplyDeletethank you for the chance!
What a lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, dishwashing goes faster if I'm on the phone with my dearest friend. It does put a crick in my neck but it's worth it.
Well, I also put on a beautiful CD I have of Spa music. Looking out my window at my garden and mountain view helps too! Your giveaway is very lovely. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteOh please pick me! What a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI have found singing helps me get through my houseworks somedays, as well as my little ones helping me out :)
Music always helps along with having the windows open. Thanks for this chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway; love these items! :) I make my own cleaners using baking soda, vinegar, and good essential oils...I love mixing my own preferred scents; it makes cleaning more pleasant, and therapeutic at the same time. Also plug in some music.
ReplyDeleteThose would look really nice in my kitchen! You've got me making dishcloths again, although I haven't done it much before.
ReplyDeleteI like music and company (helpers) to make work more fun!
How nice of you to host this give-away! I try to keep the kitchen bright and cheery with the windows open (weather permitting) while I listen to old radio shows on tape. Works for me!
ReplyDeleteI have a playlist of music on my computer titled "Housecleaning tunes", just for those days I need a little upbeat push to get through. I just pull it up and turn up the speakers.
ReplyDeleteOh, the towels are so pretty! I hope I win!
~ teresa in KY
Oh, please enter my name for a chance to win! When I do chores, I turn my music up really loud and work, work, work! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for a chance in this lovely giveaway, Deb. I don't mind doing dishes at all. My father always said that's why they had four kids so my mother didn't have to do the dishes. I'm off to Rhonda's. Thanks again.
ReplyDeletePretty, fun tools make chores a little easier. Dishcloths and towels in pretty colors, or a new ironing board cover are my favorites. When I'm really feeling a lack of motivation, I decorate one small area anew (mantle or dining table) so I have something pretty to see while I'm working!
ReplyDeleteAnything to help face the tedium of the dishes! Enter me, please?
ReplyDeleteI listen to an audio book that I have downloaded to my iPod.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't like doing laundry but its fun if I get the kids to help with the folding. We all sit in the living room and fold away.
I love the towels and the dish cloth. I like to wash dishes by hand even though I have a dishwasher. I love looking out my window and just seeing nature. Thanks
ReplyDeleteSo generous! I have always disliked ironing. My husband has a job that requires button up shirts that require ironing. A few years ago I decided to turn ironing into something that wasn't about me. I turned it into a time of prayer of thankfulness first for being blessed with my husband and children and then for others in my life.
ReplyDeleteI SO enjoy your beautiful blog ~ it puts a smile on my face! =) Your waffle knit dishcloth pattern is one of my favorites to make. I look forward to seeing this new pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love to wear a pretty apron and to use pretty yet functional tools when I'm working on an unpleasant task.
Thanks for the give away!
Susanne
Just recently came across your blog, and I love it! And what a nice giveaway. Pick me!
ReplyDeleteChores are made enjoyable one of two ways: by using a cleaner that smells nice, or by having lots of good music playing. Or both at the same time!
Music helps, but I really love having functional things that are pretty and a pleasure to use (as in those lovely dishtowels!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI will do one of two things... I crank the music and dance my way though.. or I get my Sansa (mp3 player) and listen to an audio book! I can't believe how quickly I can get through a book and get the house clean at the same time!
Call me weird but I really don't mind doing dishes :) Maybe because I spend more than 12 hours per day out of my house (commuting and working in an office), I enjoy doing things at home. Thank you for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeletepaula_lemos at vodafone dot pt
I love your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI always listen to music when doing "chores" around the house. I find if I'm listening to something I really enjoy the time flies... sometimes I even do more work.
I ALWAYS listen to music when I'm putzing around the house! It's true, it does make the time go by faster.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win!
:)
Lately doing the dishes has been actually relaxing for me. After supper my husband and 8-month old have Father-son time while Mommy does the dishes! My fave dish cloths are my hand knit ones. I taught myself to knit recently and your pattern was one of the first dishcloths I completed :) I would love to win!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and am so glad to have found it through down to earth.
Thanks for the chance to win your beautiful gifties!!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a "music" cleaner! The more up-beat, the better!! LOL!
Amazing how much you can get done with a little CCR on the CD player!
Thanks again!
What a cute giveaway, the only thing fun about cleaning the kitchen is wearing an apron and getting it back in order after it's done. Love listening to music when someone isn't in the living room watching TV.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway. As for Chores...I wear rubber gloves. It seems that putting on gloves makes the job easier and I get so much more done.
ReplyDeleteDeb, Thanks for the wonderful chance to win this giveaway. Oh, I think your blog is lovely. I've been visiting several posts and they are creative and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYvonne
Love the towels! I also love listening to music or talk radio.
ReplyDeleteOhh! I would love to have this give-away! I also find listening to music or a book on tape helps make my dull boring chores more enjoyable! I also love to have my 2 year old grand daughter "help" me clean by giving her a spray bottle of water and a towel so she can help me clean!
ReplyDeleteThe things you have made are so gorgeous, as always! And to have some other wonderful things to help make the mundane task of washing dishes more pleasant is a great idea. When I have to wash dishes I focus on the end-result - a clean kitchen! A place I will want to return to.
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Great giveaway! Involving the kids help make it more fun, singing and dancing helps too :)
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for a while and couldn't pass up this chance to enter your giveaway! To answer your question I would have to say turning on some good music and just getting to work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing you talents. Your blog is wonderful.
Oooh, how pretty! Count me in. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty towels! Listening to music has always been nice, but I recently discovered listening to a really good book on CD is even better. I get caught up in the book and end up looking for more jobs I can do just to keep listening.
ReplyDeleteWe love Mrs. Meyers! My daughter (15) and I were inspired by your Vintage Vertical Stripe Crocheted Blanket. She picked out 3 colors of wool/pima cotton yarn from our fabulous local yarn/fabric shop. It's turning out wonderful and is simple enough to be her first crochet project. My 4 year old daughter picked out some tiny cotton yarn for some doll blankets. We crochet in the evenings while watching back episodes of LOST. Thanks for introducing us to this pattern!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to do my household chores when everyone is gone somewhere. Since that rarely happens, at times I have to shoo people out of a room I want to work in. Sometimes I listen to music, but mostly I like silence, except when the weather is nice and the windows are open and I can hear the birds singing.
ReplyDeleteI love to do dishes by hand even though I have a dishwasher. I get nostalgic and think of my mother and past generations that washed their dishes/pots & pans by hand.
ReplyDeletePlease pick me!
What a lovely sounding gift! I look forward to your sharing the dishcloth pattern. I have made and given away countless dishcloths that I knit from your Waffle pattern. It's easy, and yet not boring.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'd love to win this gift! ;-)
With gear like that I'd give the dishwasher a break for a week or two. Please count me in :o)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, and have been following you for nearly a year. As with others on here, music makes the chores go faster, so I turn on the radio or on the TV to the music channels to hear different genres. A way to make dishwashing and cleanup go faster, is to use colorful dishcloths!
ReplyDeleteI love your dishtowel tutorial! I am thinking it would make pretty curtains as well....When I do dishes I like to put on a pot of coffee and for a little extra aromatherapy and treat afterwards.
ReplyDeleteLovely give away. When I get some time I am going to try making some pretty dish towels from your tutorial! I make chores more fun the same way you do. With the occasional new product and nicely scented cleaners.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway. I too love doing dishes by hand.
ReplyDeleteWarm hands, warm heart!
No matter the chore, what is helpful for me is some fun music and depending on the day of the week, a cocktail. Never hurts...always helps.
ReplyDeleteI just bought a house and it didn't come with a dishwasher, which is just fine with me. I love washing dishes by hand. Sorta soothes my soul.
Love the dish towels.
I am not crazy about dusting, but I love the way my home looks when I am done. So while I dust away, I envision that I am 'blessing' my home and taking good care of I have worked for. I also get my little granddaughter to help em. She always has a fun outlook on everyday things.
ReplyDeleteJust envisioning the completed, clean results helps me. :)
ReplyDeleteI like your blog very much, it´s inspiring and beautiful. My hardest chore is ironing a pile of chlothes. I put the ironing board in front of a big window with a beautiful view in a daylight, listen to the radio and promise myself I will go into my sewing room when I have finished to do some sewing.
ReplyDeleteHaving the proper equipment makes the cleaning more enjoyable and this giveaway would certainly help. I love the towels and dishcloth, and would like to try the soap after reading about in a previous blog. Cleaning is the most fun for me when my husband and I each pick an area to clean, set a timer, then turn up the music. When we are done we take a nice relaxing break together on the front porch!
ReplyDeleteIn a word, "scent" is how I make cleaning easier.I make my own cleansers and add essential oils to them.No one wants to clean toilets, but if you are using a cleaner that smells like eucalyptus and mint....well,it's not so bad!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the roses on the towels!! And I would love to win!
Darlene
Hi Deb! Great give away! I love flour sack dish towels and the dish cloth does a great job of scrubbing. Mrs. Meyers geranium would make all of my cleaning chores more bearable!
ReplyDeletewould love to win this loverly prize...to make laundry seem more fun, i think of it as extending the life of my clothes. i love shopping and when i do laundry its sort of like another step in the shopping adventure...maybe it only seems fun to me. ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Deb! I tend to buy nicely scented dish soap to make washing dishes more enjoyable, and I also have my bird feeder right outside my kitchen window. I LOVE your giveaway, as usual everything is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCarla
To me, there really isn't a cleaning task that isn't made more enjoyable with some peppy music. And if there's enough space around me, I will sometimes have a 'dance party' and jump around with my border collie, who loves to have her front feet in the air as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteHaving a little bit of pretty or handmade in my tool kit usually gives me more peace when I'm doing those household chores.
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous is this? Well I use this time to daydream. I usually have some sort of noise going on but not too loud. I want to make sure I am concentrating. ;)
ReplyDeleteOoo - how beautiful! I simmer a little essential oil to get me in the spirit!
ReplyDeleteupbeat tempo of music gets me going! I love your dishcloths and have made several of your last pattern! thanks. Susan
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely prize! So cheerful!
ReplyDeleteMy kids and I play Sock Go Fish to match up our socks. (12 feet x 7 days in a week = a lot of mismatched socks.) We all grab a handful and go around holding up one at a time. "Does anyone have a white one with pink heels and a butterfly?" "Go fish!" When we get sick of that, we have a bonus round where everyone grabs as many matchers as they can in one minute. Much more fun!
yes please! i actually have my radio/cd player on top of the microwave right next to the sink so i can listen to music while i do chores like washing dishes. i also find myself doing dishes when neighbors stop by to chat. suddenly, my whole sink is empty and clean!
ReplyDeleteFor me, music makes anything enjoyable. I just put my mp3 player on shuffle and time flies by.
ReplyDeleteI talk to my Lord and Saviour. My joy and strength comes from Him!
ReplyDeleteGod bless!
What a wonderful giveaway! Thanks so much for offering this. I'm into the music scene also! Sometimes I am listening sooo loud my dear hubby comes in and asks me if I'm deaf! There is nothing like singing about my Lord! have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteJuanita
I've always used flour sack towels in the kitchen and love them! My mother did a set for me a few years ago that are machine stitched pink birds and even though they are beginning to show wear, they still make the dish chore so much more pleasant. Love your taste and would appreciate being entered in your drawing...blessings
ReplyDeleteI tried to leave a comment earlier and don't think it got posted. After having health problems, I am just grateful to be able to stand up long enough to do the dishes! Never thought I would feel like that, but I do now. Love your reading your blog and the give away is so nice of you.
ReplyDeleteplease enter me in your give away.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried Mr. Myers but I have heard Katy at Country Blossom tell about it!!
What a lovely giveaway! My chores go by happier when I open the right windows and doors to create a cross-breeze and throw homemade smell-good on the stove: a pot of water with orange rinds, a quartered apple, a few cloves, cinnamon and a little allspice. The fresh air invigorates me!
ReplyDeletewhat a perfectly lovely giveaway! when I feel the drudgery of a chore creeping in I remember that it provides me with a way of nurting my family and gratitude soon takes over :)
ReplyDeleteI like to use cleaning supplies that smell nice. That always perks me up for cleaning.
ReplyDeleteThank you for offering the giveaway!
I'm looking forward to seeing the pattern. What a pleasure it's all been, see you in future comments.
ReplyDeleteI use rosewood scent in my homemade cleaner. Hope I win.
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway! I know it sounds silly, but I do a lot of laundry and it makes me happy to have my newly sewn clothespin bag hanging on the line and my home sewn ironing board cover for when I iron. I chose fabric that makes me happy and it just makes the tasks a little more joyful!
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweet giveaway just having these goodies sure would make the job
ReplyDeleteof doing dishes more enjoyable...
Have a Blessed day...
Sweet Blessings
Tonja
Oh, what a fun giveaway! Thank you for the chance to win this!
ReplyDeleteMy 14 y.o. daughter loves to sing while we work at the chores around here. Or we'll put on some 70's tunes and dance around while working.
I'm looking forward to a new pattern for dishcloths, as I've been making your other one for a while. I'm having surgery in about a month, and I will be stocking up on yarn to make a bunch more while recovering. Thank you for sharing!
I try to see how much I can get done (load the dishwasher, fold clothes, etc.) during commercial breaks while watching TV at night. I have 3 kids (the youngest is only 1) so I can get more accomplished after they go to bed than during the day. It always amazes me how much I can complete in just a few minutes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful give-away! I'd love to have my name added to the pot. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks and God bless,
Amy O'Quinn/picketfencemom
Hello Deb. I read all of your posts and although I rarely comment I do enjoy your creativeness.
ReplyDeletePlease add my name to the "give away" pot.
Hi Debbie-Thank you for a wonderful giveaway. I also, put a CD on or listen to my ipod and crank it up my favorite CD is Women of Faith, "Boundless Love". Sometimes, also when I'm doing a chore and feeling pity party for myself for doing so much work, I will start praying and thanking the good Lord for the House I have, the pretty dishes, etc. nothing like being thankful to get you out of that stupidness. Love to meet with you sometime, I live in East Amherst and you must be pretty close to me.
ReplyDeleteFabulous winnings for the little giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI usually done one of my aprons that I have made, with old fashioned fabric prints used and find it enjoyable when the ducks are swimming in the small pond out back that I can see perfectly from my kitchen window over the sink.
I just love those dish towels. Thanks for offering .
ReplyDeleteOh those are soooo pretty! I put "golden oldies" on the radio and turn it up real loud!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chance to win these goodies! Using my own hand knit cloths makes washing dishes a bit more bearable. Still not fun, but bearable!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Making chores special! I have to have the television on to distract me or talk radio. I plan a lot of cleaning activities this summer as soon as my job at the school is over! I love summer! V.
ReplyDeleteAny chore done with my doggies by my side is no chore at all!
ReplyDeleteFlylady says some to the effect that housework, even done incorrectly, still blesses your family. Thinking that is how I get through my not-so-favorite chores.
ReplyDeleteI like to have a project that I can use as my "go to" in between my chores. It makes the chore go quicker and as I don't really like doing chores my mind is otherwise occupied on thinking about how fast I can get another row done.
ReplyDeleteMusic, music, music. Not gonna lie - it's New Edition circa 1990'ish. Love 'em. They've seen me through many of less than pleasant (but oh so necessary) chores!
ReplyDeleteUsing pretty tools like you are giving away make those jobs so much more enjoyable. Thank you for the opportunity to enter :o)
ReplyDeleteI set the timer for 15 minutes (per Flylady, you can do ANYTHING for 15 minutes), put on a podcast or music, and FOCUS on the task at hand. Pretty soon, 15 minutes are done and I can do something FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely giveaway. I really enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteMICHLE
Wonderful giveaway! I love the Mrs. Meyers cleaning products. I love to listen to books on my mp3 player. Our local library offers the download service and I use it all the time. It's great and makes the work go so fast.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn in NM
Wow Looks like I've got lots of competition for that prize.I guess I have to say day-dreaming about my crafts helps make the chore of dishwashing fly by.At least it seems that way to me.
ReplyDeleteIroning is my least favorite chore. But...if I open my front door, I can look out from my ironing spot and see the Allegheny Mtns. If I look out the back door, I can see the Blue Ridge Mtns. Just viewing God's creation while doing a not-too-well-liked chore surely helps put things into perspective. I'd LOVE to win your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI turn on some talk radio and listen to take my mind off what I am doing. Thanks for the giveaway and here's hoping I win!
ReplyDeleteI so would love to win. Thanks for the chance and the pleasure of reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win. The towels are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove your towels and dishcloth, and would love for them to come to my house! I may not have tons o' fun while doing the dishes, but when the sink is empty, and I hang a towel over my vintage towel rack, I always think how happy I'm going to be when I walk in the kitchen in the morning and find it clean.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely items. Whenever I'm doing a chore I don't like I sing.
ReplyDeletersgrandinetti@yahoo(DOT)COM
I love to put my cleaning supplies into interesting spray bottles, jars, etc. I so enjoy reading your blog. Thanks you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I usually bribe myself to finish chores with a little reward like chocolate! But this would be a great inspiration when washing up, and timely too as my dishwasher is on its last legs and I'm not sure when we'll be getting a new one.
ReplyDeleteFantastic giveaway Deb!!! I absolutely LOVE each of the items!
ReplyDeleteI like to turn on beautiful music to do my chores to. The music can lift my spirits and helps to make the time pass quickly!!! :)
I've won a giveaway from you before, so please don't include me on this. I just wanted to say that I look forward to your dishcloth pattern. I've knitted several from your other pattern, and it's my favorite to work on. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteEven if I don't win, I'll probably make some of these from your tutorial. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteElisabeth
I love to talk with my children while I am working about the house. It makes it more enjoyable to work side by side.Sometimes I use the time to mentally plan out the next day or really *think* about something.I light a little scented candle and wash away!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win the giveaway.I have been searching for Mrs.Meyers high and low with no luck here in SC.I would love the geranium scent, I think.
What a lovely blog you have!
ReplyDeleteI also listen to music when I clean-though, I must confess....I LOVE housework! Sick...eh?!
What a wonderful give-a-way! I have a window above my sink and I try to make my view interesting by my gardening choices. Just out my window is my raised bed vegetable garden; wind mill, shed with bird feeders attached and along the fence we have created a small woodland garden. Always lots of birds and butterflies. And in the morning we get to be greeted by our dog sitting on the ramp to the shed letting us know she is ready to be fed. And if it's a major clean-up job like from a family gathering I may have some "cleaning music" in the CD player - Prince is one of my cleaning favorites.
ReplyDeleteOh, deeeeeeeeaarrrrr! If I don't like a chore, I avoid it at all costs. That seems to make it better. =] Happily, though, I love to do housework. There are those few things, though.... and, I must confess that I am starting to feel that doing the dishes is a futile part of life. If I really don't want to, I just do a little every day. 15 min. and then that's it, but, then, I come back the next day and get the thread going.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you for inspiring us!
Love, Katy Noelle
I turn up the music!! Always makes anything go faster!! Nice giveaway, thanks for doing it, you stuff is always wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
I just love to have pretty towels hanging in the kitchen. It brightens my mood.
ReplyDeleteI am a ponderer. When I do any chore (dishes or shopping) I think of the event that just occured & how fortunate I feel to have my family around me. So not even the largest pile of dishes ever bring me down, besides isn't it "the larger the mess - the better the meal" LOL
ReplyDeleteOne night really late...I found your blog about a year and half or so ago...just a beginner knitter..you shared a pattern for dish cloths...It was easy to read and to do...now my grandchildren are making them! Would love to join in this give away...Have a blessed day...
ReplyDeleteCame across your blog about a year ago...a beginner knitter..you had shared the pattern for knitted dish cloths...easy directions.. and now the grandchildren knit them too! I pass work away easily..by praying and talking to my Lord...have a blessed day!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet giveaway! I tie on an apron to feel productive. :)
ReplyDeleteThe food channel helps pass the time when I'm in the kitchen and I get great ideas to boot!
ReplyDeleteIf I listen to music it helps me do my chores, but there are so many other things I rather do. LOL Can't wait to see you new dishcloth pattern. I enjoy the current one and can't even begin to tell you how many I have made. Everyone loves them.
ReplyDeleteI put on Christian music and sing along! I also bribe myself by promising to spend time quilting when the work is done!
ReplyDeletedsb448@att.net
What a beautiful set of lovelies! To make dish washing more enjoyable I light a candle on my windowsill above the sink and try to find a pretty towel for the counter. Somehow those two things help. Don't you just love the geranium scented Mrs. Meyers? I have the counter spray and it makes me smile to smell it as I clean.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
D
I have come to, upon occasion, enjoy the jobs no one else wants to do. The reason? It usually assures me that I have some alone time. No one wants to come around for fear that they may be called upon to help. So, while working, I think, plan, schedule, pray, dream...some things I find it hard to get time alone to do. It makes the job go faster, and I don't dread the job so much. Love your work!
ReplyDeleteRight now, the only pleasure out of doing dishes is being able to see my shiny metal sink afterwards, and also the chirping the cat does while I'm standing there scrubbing away.
ReplyDeleteBut some beautiful towels could make all the difference in the world.
Sometimes I like quiet so I can concentrate on the chores at hand, and sometimes music helps me get into the groove.
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying your blog for about a year now. I've been knitting washcloths from your pattern, and they make great gifts. Thank you so much for sharing your talents.
I put on Sly and the Family Stone and go to it! The only problem is that I start dancing with the vacuum cleaner -- and the windows are open -- I'm so certain I've given the neighbors a good show.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway!! Everything I own has a rose on it. Audio books help me through chores in the kitchen, favorite videos help me with the chores in the bedroom and birds singing help me with outdoor jobs. It's all good.
ReplyDeleteSo many comments! Please enter me in the draw. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great give away, please count me in on the drawing. Opening the window and listening to the sounds outside helps me enjoy doing the dishes.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to win this wonderful giveaway. The towels are beautiful and I'd love to try the dish soap. Your dishcloths are wonderful, too! Have a wonderful day! Twyla
ReplyDeletecan i join in please??

I would love to be the proud owner of those lovely tea towels & dish cloth.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy cleaning best when I'm alone and when I can turn CBC radio up to keep up with the news and listen to music.
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite household chore is sweeping the kitchen floor. I've taken to use it as time to dance to the music on the radio. It doesn't look so crazy to dance with a broom in your hand.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog. Its restful and inspiring all at the same time! Thanks for sharing your days with us.
ReplyDeleteOh! Beautiful! I like to have fun music going in the background, something I can sing-hum-dance to if possible =-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific giveaway! Pretty towels always make the kitchen cheery.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice giveaway! I try to involve my little one in my daily work. She's only 1 year old and sometimes her "help" creates more work, but it is a joy to watch her "fold" laundry or play with tupperware while I wash dishes. Plus, then it's done and when she naps I get some ME time!
ReplyDeleteLike a lot of others, I like to put on a CD or DVD to help work go faster. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway! Music always help the chores go by faster.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me where you get your dish soap.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I love the rose edging. Can hardly wait to get the new pattern for the dishcloth. It really helps me to sing while I work... makes the time pass quicker and gives me more energy.
ReplyDeleteUsing products like Mrs. Meyers is always a nice treat and makes cleaning more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteOne hundred seventy seven comments so far?! Everyone wants your generous giveaway. Can't wait to hear who the very lucky winner is . . .
ReplyDeleteMusic is always helpful... But I have to say, one of the things I dislike the most is folding socks! So since I have to watch DVD's for homework, I fold socks while watching my homework! Whatever it takes, right?
ReplyDeleteI think of Laura Ingalls and imagine how awe struck she would be if she could see all the tools that make house cleaning so easy today. Makes me happyto be living in the 21st century!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway! Your crafting is very inspiring. My two oldest daughters (age 10 and 8) help with the dishes, and that makes it so much more enjoyable to have help! :)
ReplyDeleteI love washing my dishes by hand. For some reason it helps me to tune out the chaos around me and I usually end up having a long talk with God. I love using dish soap that smells nice, especially lilac or lavendar, and using pretty dish towels to dry the dishes. I have a beautiful view of the back yard over my sink so I often am watching various wild critters make themselves at home in my garden. On my window sill I grow herbs and display a constantly changing collection of teacups, vases, and bowls. I would love to win your give-away gifts and I love reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteYour giveaway looks wonderful..I'd sure be happy to win that!
ReplyDeleteI make a list of things I have to do and when I'm finished I give it a 'check mark' and go on to the next task.
When I'm doing a not so pleasant job I just think good thoughts and before I know the job is done.
ReplyDeletethanks for a chance to win your gift-a-way.
I made several dishcloths for Christmas gifts last year using your waffle pattern. I am looking forward to the new pattern you will be sharing soon. I always enjoy reading your blogs. You always share interesting ideas and information.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, and what a wonderful giveaway! I would love to win it. I will be looking forward to the directions and get out my knitting needles. :)
ReplyDeleteI love to plan my day while doing morning chores....and must have all the windows and shades open to let in the sunshine and fresh air, weather permitting.
Actually, having a peaceful day to spend catching up is my favorite thing to do, no matter what the chore is.
Lovr your dishtowels and can't wait to see the new pattern
ReplyDeleteI get the dishes done quicker when I'm by myself with no interuptions lol. Thanks for the chance to enter your lovely giveaway :) Barb.
ReplyDeleteI love your website... so many wonderful ideas for the home!
ReplyDeleteI make a not-so-pleasant chore more enjoyable by getting a good night's sleep the night before. If I'm tired, nothing goes right... but if I'm rested, even those days where everything seems to go wrong, don't seem quite so bad. :)

A good cup of coffee and some energetic worship music get me going on the tough chores!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! :)
During the day washing up is not so much of a chore because I can look out the window and see the world go by. In the evenings I've got so much else on my mind, like planning what I'm going to do after the chores, that the time goes quickly! Please enter me in the draw, I'd love to win these goodies. And I'm looking forward to the new dishcloth pattern having knitted quite a few of your other one for friends.

LOVE this giveaway! And love your blog - it's so inspiring. My tips are to listen to an audio book or some upbeat music, and use essential oils to make those really-not-fun chores, like mopping the floor, a bit more tolerable...just add a few drops to your mop water.
ReplyDeleteTHinking it might be too late, but I'll leave the comment. I really don't mind doing the dishes, just need to enjoy that right now I have the time to wash and smile and think...
